đŸ‡ȘđŸ‡ș Europe | Why Europeans Think Asia is Poor and Backwards

  1. I probably watch too many YouTube street interviews.
  2. One of the benefits of travel is to examine others’ perspectives.

Don’t worry, I did it tactfully.

Nothing wrong with that, but is it meaningful/representative if you share those perspectives here? What is the point?

I have a niece who likes dried mango from Taiwan.

During my last trip to Germany earlier this year l got the impression that the people l talked to knew that Taiwan is not Thailand and that Taiwan is not a poor country. Granted, most of them don’t know much more than what they can gain from the main news, that is China threatening Taiwan and earthquakes, plus the occasional news about train accidents and fights in the parliament.

In SĂŁo Paulo, street vendors have credit card machines. Night markets need to catch up!

This sounds like a fast track to possible financial fraud.

Just one bad player needed . . .

Wait you’ve been here?!? When? You didn’t even tell us.

There’s JKO pay, Taiwan pay, line pay, whatever. The problem is how can you predict who will take what or if they’ll take any at all? I prefer no cash, I don’t have to carry change around and then having to go to an ATM machine for larger purchase just because they only do cash. I know ATM fees are low but I don’t feel safe carrying all that cash.

I don’t know what’s so hard about line pay but just take one and stick with it. It’s weird a restaurant is cash only yet they do food panda or Uber eats.

They take those things at the night market?

Was he selling CDs too?

The glorious day is here when a beggar carries one. Can’t use I don’t have cash on me as an excuse anymore.

Supposed to, but it’s very hard to be sure.

The problem is a lot of these night market stands are run by baby boomers who are either tech illiterate, or they don’t trust contactless pay.

Go over there and check.

Easy: I don’t have my card on me!

An old woman who approached me while I was having dinner with someone at the Belgian restaurant tonight. When I motioned I didn’t have any real, she gave me a piece of cardboard with some wiring and account numbers on it!

Yea I encountered a few in Germany too.

A woman with head covering claiming to be refugees of the Bosnian war (this is in 2011) who needs money to survive.

They don’t speak English either but has a card with the sob story on it.

Probably a gypsy.

I think the term gypsy is outdated and widely considered to be a racial slur.

The proper word to use would be Roma as far as l know.

In my German class we have to call them Roma or Sinti
 can’t call them Gypsy.
