Evaporative airconditioner in Mandarin

I am having a trouble with the typical airconditioner. It makes me have runny nose and sneeze. It’s so uncomfortable.

So I am thinking of a different kind of an airconditioner. I want to try an evaporative ice airconditioner. I guess what it does is to use the evaporated water from the ice to cool the room (correct?). Taiwan is already humid, so this may make my room even more humid, but I want to give something a try.

I can see that there has been a discussion here 15 years ago: Evaporative water air conditioners - Taiwan / Living in Taiwan - Forumosa, and the reply is negative, but maybe I can try.

What are they called in Mandarin?

蒸發式 = “evaporative type”
and then take your pick of 空調, or possibly try 冷風機 (not the standard word for AC but this isn’t a standard AC).

I very strongly doubt it’ll be effective in Taiwan because the generally high ambient humidity undermines the basic principle that makes the thing work…

It’s not that the reply is negative. It’s that they are telling the truth. Evaporative coolers don’t work in Taiwan full stop because the air is already at carrying capacity for water vapour and can’t evaporate any more.
