Foreigners Behaving Badly in Taiwan

Points for creative use of a national icon, the traffic cone.

Also what is that cop holding? Taser? Looks like his gun is holstered.

Probably a taser. Most cops really don’t want to shoot people which is generally a good thing. But I hope he didn’t injure folks while being chased. .
The traffic cone toss was pretty whack.

he did…. he broke into someone’s home by breaking a window, slashed someone in the house and a girl got glass in her feet when trying to escape.

Wow not good…

I suggest reading the article…. it’s entertaining. Feels like it came from a cartoon studio rather than a newsroom.

Incompetent cops again, a tazer would have finished this episode whilst the miscreant was still on the back of the pickup truck.

How hungry do you have to be to do that?

Or possibly drunk, or high?

An Italian restaurant in Taichung hosted a group of foreign guests at the end of March. However, the group apparently became unruly after drinking, demanding to eat the sold-out dishes and insisting on cooking for themselves. They even secretly drank a bottle of brandy costing NT$6,000 when the staff wasn’t looking. The owner, also a foreigner, angered, asked them to leave, but they left without paying, causing the restaurant a loss of NT$20,000 that night. The incident occurred at this Italian-style restaurant on Xiangshang Road in Taichung. The group consisted of six people, five of whom were foreigners and a Taiwanese. They left without paying and no one apologized afterward for this incident. This restaurant has been operating in the West District of Taichung for 8 years, and the owner said that this was the first time he had encountered such a situation. The man’s behavior seriously affected the hygiene of the restaurant. Although he did not call the police, he posted the video online to remind his fellow business owners to pay more attention and hoping the guests will apologize and resolve the issue.

There have to be cameras, somewhere, catching these no class dine-and-dash clowns in motion.

I’m looking forward to an update.

From pics, it looks like this restaurant:

Note, they were asked to pay but refused. That’s worse than “left without paying" (which sounds passive and possibly accidental).

Below are some better pictures of the people involved. Someone here must know them:

American guy smashes up scooters after a nights drinkin’

and seems the same day a French national is on camera knocking down a bunch of scooters as well…. its an epidemic of foreigners knocking over scooters?

The owner should respond like a Sicilian

Le Clan Des Siciliens (Ennio Morricone soundtrack)

This is awfully broad, isn’t it

Given the quality of cooking (or lack there of) I sometimes fantasise about this… especially with pizza.

I wish I could grab the paddle and stuff that pizza back into the oven until it is cooked properly.

This paragraph is at the end of the Yahoo news article. Very strange, makes it sound more like someone’s blog rather than professional journalism.

Drinking over the weekend, losing control of one’s emotions, and damaging someone else’s motorcycle—now that he’s sober, he has to take responsibility for his actions.

I have now become a bit paranoid about potential local Karens when I am out and about with our 7-year old boy. He now likes to use his butterfly net to catch flying and swimming things, and I am making doubly sure that no one is around when he “beats around the bushes” after an auntie told us not to kill no butterflies. Hey, we just do “catch and release” for educational purposes. Glad no one saw us picking up a juvenile turtle in a riverside park and taking it home (released two days later). Maybe I should have posted this in “Foreigners acting badly in Taiwan”? :grimacing:

If we see some breathless news reports about a crazy auntie yelling at or hitting a seven year old boy, at least now we’ll have some context!
