You shouldn’t take any wildlife home with you IMHO . Especially amphibians and reptiles .
Although I know many of these wildlife could be introduced pests but we don’t know for sure which ones. I guess a stray cat or dog or a bird that falls out of a nest is also something to consider. The fledglings thing is interesting because the govt won’t take in those that are introduced species.
Iguanas of course you could take and should be killed by authorities.
My wife has raised beautiful butterflies from caterpillars that she found on leaves or the road and released them so there could be an element of hypocrisy in my post . We have also raised a Ban Jou Dove that we found as a chick on the ground.
I agree it is a great thing to introduce our kids to the amazing nature here.
Absolutely. They do not have instincts to be a pet or socialise too much with humans.
The Ban Jou Dove that we raised was cute but as it showed it’s wild temperament early on and became independent easily and found its own friends with its own mind and flew away with them. We let it live on our balcony and socialise with the other birds. I count that as an awesome thing.
I guess a lot, if not most, of these videos where people rescue young animals like deer and then they come back later as grown ups showing the recsuers their offsprings are fake.
I think this what I ate at the night market in Taidong. Was okay but they chopped the little butterflied and roasted bird into cubes so you had to spit out the bony splinters, which kind of ruined the experience. I’d like to do it again someday but instead just have it cut down the middle.
