Forumosa poster base too narrow?

Ban discussion on non Taiwan related politics and only allow memes on there, are the way to go.

Wowser, 260k of those foreigners are from Indonesia alone.

They all seem to be in the buy and sell section.:joy:

I would guess most of the foreigners from the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam etc either (a) don’t speak English well enough to find the conversations here of any interest and (b) don’t want to talk about the things we’re talking about. I’m surprised they haven’t set up their own forum(s). I dunno, maybe they have and we don’t know about it?

I think most of these people are too busy working to spare time for arguing in any online forums.

It’s the same thing you see on other forum/social media sites. A small group of active users slowly use the site to reestablish an ongoing conversation regardless of topic. Hopefully the moderators are aware of this problem.

Yep, you can mute a forum in Preferences/Notifications/Forums if you don’t want to see that forum’s posts in your Latest list. That will set all posts in the forum to Muted by default. It might take a day or so to kick in in my experience.

Then look for a thread you want in a search, and you can set it to Tracking at bottom left so you’ll see it.

Well … yes and no. They often work strange hours (eg., nightshifts) or do a lot of voluntary overtime, but with the possible exception of maids (who tend to get treated like 24/7 slaves) they mostly work a standard week, 40-50 hours maybe.

I imagine they enjoy blowing off steam the same as anyone else, but I guess they just have completely different concerns to old, right-wing white guys. I wonder what they do talk about? Surely not Trump and gender issues.

There already are like 2 talk shows about foreigners in Taiwan and they are not good.

That’s putting it mildly. I can feel my brain cells dying every time I accidentally flip by one of those shows.

Taipei Main Station and Zhongshan N. Rd.

ICRT radio station it’s DJs are very diverse.

oh up by the "American embassy " I remember looking around in there before it had been converted into a trendy arty movie theater.

They are good for laggards in Mandarin, helps to hear someone with a furrin accent sometimes, seems clearer to me. Realise how perverse that sounds to native speakers…
