That’s what you get for living in a tin shack on a mountain. I assume there are pros and cons. ![]()
I’ll taking living in the mountains in a tin shack. It’s not like I need to go to Coscto more than once a week. Summer temperatures of around 25c and nice cool mountain breezes, clean waters to swim in or go fishing. Clean fresh air. It’s a tragedy living up here it really is lol
I had the same thing, called them after it was up for a week or so. After eventually getting through the horrible automated answering system I got talking to a lady who checked their system and admitted she had no clue why the website was asking me to call them as their was nothing showing in her system. Late advice now but for anyone else, don’t bother calling.
I had to do the same, vaguely remember having to do something similar with the Cathay card previously. Takes seconds when you get to the counter but remember to bring your ARC.
Quick question: How does one go about redeeming the “Costco Dollars” given as cashback on the Fubon credit card? I can’t find any option to do it in the Costco app or on the Fubon website, and it seems like these aren’t automatically credited to the next statement as with other credit cards and can only be used in Costco itself or for the membership fee?
Do you just need to tell the cashier when you’re paying that you’d like to apply the points, or something like that?
Yep, ask them to apply the points at the cashier. They sometimes ask if me unprompted.
So apparently these can only be redeemed in January and February? (At least in my case - maybe the exact months vary with the membership period.)
That’s what I was just told by the cashier and then by the Fubon rep, anyway.
Huh, they used to ask me at the register at what seemed like random intervals if I wanted to apply my points while checking out. Wasn’t aware of any rule requiring me to wait to use them, but maybe something introduced with the new credit card this year.
Sorry guys, didn’t read the whole thread, but I’ve got a question. If I get the Fubon Costco card, will the bill be together with my current (non Costco) Fubon card? My wife doesn’t want to have to pay an extra bill each month since we don’t use direct debits for payment. Also, will the monthly limit they give me be the same as my current card in the sense that my limit will now be shared over two cards, or will I have two separate limits? I know could ask Fubon, but won’t have a chance for a while so checking if anyone knows first.
Yes that seems to be the way it works for me. I have 3 CC from Fubon, 200k limit on first card when it got approved, and they appear all on one bill with the same combined limit.
You can use the Fubon app to see it
Yes, it’s all the same. The bank sets the limit and it all goes into the same pot no matter which cards you used.
On pages 5, amongst the many terms and conditions it says:
“正附卡暨所有卡別均共用同一信用額度。正卡申請人就附卡申請人使用附卡所生應付帳款負連帶清償責任;附卡申請人則
僅就使用該附卡所生應付帳款負清償責任。”
Google translate:
“The attached card and all card types share the same credit limit. The applicant for the main card shall be jointly and severally liable for the repayment of the accounts payable incurred by the applicant for the supplementary card when using the supplementary card; the applicant for the supplementary card shall be
You are only responsible for repaying the accounts payable arising from the use of the additional card.”
With or without photo?
With.
Why do you ask? Did they give you the same BS about foreigners not being allowed to have that?
Fight back. ![]()
My wife is the member and I’m the additional card from her. She filled the papers and checked the box without photo for my card because of what’s written there.
So, I was wondering what happened if she had just checked the one with photo, even though it said I couldn’t apply for that one, like what you did.
Did they ask you for any extra steps before granting you the card?
All I did was what I wrote about in the post you just liked, the complaint in the Costco store. As far as I remember, there was no other contact from Fubon after that until the card was approved, which I’m guessing I found out about by either an SMS notification or the slip telling me to go to the post office to collect the card.
I don’t remember seeing anything on the form saying foreigners couldn’t have the photo card (not surprising, because I couldn’t read the Chinese), but I asked about the card options after the Fubon rep left that part blank, to be told I didn’t have any choice as a foreigner. That’s what kicked off the complaint.
I suspect if she had ticked that box you would have got the photo card like I did. (I’m not the only one, by the way - I’ve read of other foreigners getting it too.)
Yes, it’s there.
So they have it in written, easier to complain with FSC! ![]()
I thought it was something to do with whether it was a Costco Taiwan membership or Costco some other place membership. Not foreigner vs non foreigner.
That would actually make sense.
Or maybe someone designing that form thought that foreigners cannot get a Taiwanese Costco membership, so all foreigners in Costco must have a US membership probably ![]()
Yes this was the case with me.
My US Costco membership wasn’t eligible for a Fubon card with photo. But after I got TW Costco membership, they issued a Fubon card with photo.
Also I could not get US Costco membership working with the TW Costco app registration since US was not in the drop-down list, so could not shop Costco TW online.
Is online function to request credit limit increase disabled for everyone or just foreigners? @anon24369109 your input is requested.
