Getting ready for possible level 3 (2022 edition)

do morning, noon, evening walks/run

Yes. Stare death in the face and do not allow yourself to be shut in.

Let other people do fear, enjoy the empty spaces.

And remember, Yangmingshan never shuts.

I don’t know. I find this whole thread to be not much help and kind of patronizing tbh. Yes, we know to buy groceries if there’s a Level 3. There’s not much intrinsic value to this thread that the average COVID veteran wouldn’t already know.

Would you say four cartons of toilet paper is enough? Or maybe five?

Time to come down off the ledge, Taiwan, and start living again. We had over 10,000 cases of the wonton flu here in the U.S. of Oregon yesterday with a population 1/5 that of Taiwan and only 8 people died. People who probably would have died anyway.

How many of us are actually ready if we get sick?

At least you have family support, right? Many of us here, by contrast, are On Our Own.

Wait, what? Is this sarcasm, or are you back in the land of the living, QSS?

Haven’t you ever had a cold before? You go to bed, stay there, feel sorry for yourself for a while, and then get better. You’ll be fine, even if you don’t have someone to bring you soup. Statistically, it seems there’s still about an 80% chance you won’t have any noticeable symptoms or even contract the disease at all…

And remember not to drink cold water.

Omicron is a game changer. We’re living proof that you can go to Defcon 0 and survive. There’s no point any longer in putting off living because Covid is here to stay. Defcon 2, 3, whatever is just a matter of trying to make a point now . . . and what’s the point?

I wasn’t mocking you. I was saying “welcome back”.

I’m hoping Taiwan actually starts looking at the international data instead of … well, it’s starting to look like attention-seeking to me.

There must have been a misunderstanding. I’ve been fine with going to Defcon 0 since way back when I got my Pfizer booster shot. It’s way past time to thin the herd for real.

Talking about letting go, check your insurance coverage. You may live after COVID…with consequences. So, will your insurance cover it here? Or will you have to pay an air ambulance to get to your home country?

If you get fired because you are absent too long, do you have the means to support yourself and your family, pending suing the employer? Same with housing.

Wait…what? :astonished:

I would like to hear from parents, how to handle the kids at home. I think it is easier with Taiwanese kids, so much homework and studying even on vacation, but still parents must supervise/entertain.

And even shopping, I mostly do it with typhoon experience as base. And yes, there is always McDonald’s.

Typical F-drama. Forumosa drama. Maybe people watch too much K-drama on Netflix.

I’m with the Dr here. In Taiwan’s medical system I trust.

I was trying to imagine a scenario where an air ambulance to the U.S. would be a better choice than getting medical care in Taiwan and failed utterly.

Perhaps some term condition in which some specialist at the Mayo Clinic could help?

But that’s not what we’re facing.

So the moment everyone spent their hongbao, close down shit!

Did you ever think about what will happen to your pets when you get quarantined?
