In Glitter’s case, once he gets out he should be forcibly extradited to Britain where he should face some good 'ole English justice… The British consular office should press for that. But I doubt he’ll ever really get his just desserts.

I like the tatoo idea. The general idea is that a pedophile is a pedophile for life. It’s like being gay…you can’t just change who you are.
They did tests with convicted pedo’s where they’d show them different pictures and monitor their arousal level. For pics of adult nude women they would be no interest whatsoever…and for fully clothed children arousal.

Not really. How many people are able to suppress their sexuality that completely? As the recent scandals in the Catholic Church have shown, celibacy is a wildly unrealistic demand for most people. How many ‘in the closet’ gays haven’t had at least some homosexual experience (and then went into denial about it)? ‘In the closet’ pedophiles have to have superhumanly strong control to stay out of the closet for long. The sex drive is, next to the survival drive, the most powerful drive there is. It’s the only thing that makes me feel a bit of sympathy for pedophiles; it can no more be cured than homosexuals can be ‘reprogrammed’, because you’re stuck with your sexuality, like it or not.
Killing isn’t a good parallel. It’s not normal to kill or seriously want to kill another person. Very few people do that outside of war, and even in war lots of soldiers refuse to kill. Nearly everybody wants to have sex, though.
Since pedophiles can never be reformed, the only humane solution I see is house arrest for life and permanent chemical castration.
The only question worth asking here is why the computer technician in 1997 didn’t blackmail him. Beggars belief. :loco:

Pedophiles can’t be reformed. Same as homosexuality. I’d say that pedophillic tendicies can be reformed…just as homosexual curiousity will often go away. But generally speaking a pedophile is a pedophile for life.

OK, back on topic. No, I think poisening of people should be avoided as well.
It would help to look at the topic in depth.
What about the different categories of pedophiles? There are those whose sexual target scheme is wrong, using the child scheme as a sexual target.
And there are those who get sexual pleasure (or just pleasure) from having control over a helpless person. And a child is very helpless.
I am not defending that, just saying the typical bar talk “shoot them, hang them, castrate them” is not the way this should be discussed.
And there are two interesting differences between US law and that of my country:
In Germany, many parents take pics of their naked kids in the bathtub. This is considered to be a cute picture. Say when they are 3 or 5 or so. The German gov warns US travellers on www.auswaertiges-amt.de, doing this in the US even with your very own children could lead to arrest as someone producing child pornography!

Of course not. He was a normal, red-blooded man. The age below which sexual attraction is pedophilia, and below which sexual intercourse is pederasty, is the age of puberty, which varies by individual. I am speaking from a psychological, not a legal perspective. Around the age of puberty or a year to three onwards, the terms for a predominant (not occasional) attraction to male pubescents (teenagers) and females would be ephebophilia (or ephebephilia) and hebephilia, respectively. At the upper end of this range and into early adulthood, the attraction becomes normal homo- and heterosexuality, respectively.
To put it another way, it is normal for adult men to occasionally be sexually attracted to a girl of 15-16, but for the attraction to be more focused on those a bit older and up to their own age. If a man is obsessed with girls around the age of, say, 14-16, he is not a pedophile, he is a hebephile. Of which I imagine there are a lot. Similarly, if a man is occasionally turned on by a lad of 14-16, that’s probably normal. If he’s primarily or exclusively turned on by, say, 13- to 16-year-olds, he is not a pedophile, he is an ephebephile.

Teacher found dead in wake of sex scandal
A teacher in Taichung County was found dead yesterday hanging by the neck from a tree in an apparent suicide one day after he was charged with having sexual relations with one of his 15 year-old junior high school students.
Chang Hung-jun, 33, who taught at a Taichung junior high school for the past twelve years, was charged under the sexual autonomy law.
The report also said the affair began when the girl was only 13 years old. Chang took pity on the girl, who is from a single parent home, often cooking for her, and eventually asked her to be his mistress and took her often to hotels, the paper said.
When the girl graduated from junior high school, Chang bought her a scooter and gave her NT$6,000 in spending money, the report claimed. Around the same time, Chang and the girl developed a sexual relationship, the paper stated. However, the relationship turned sour when the girl tried to break up with Chang after she began senior high school and during one of the fights, Chang asked for the scooter back, the report claimed. The girl’s mother reportedly found out about the illicit relationship when she inquired why her daughter no longer had the scooter.
NOTE: in a weird reporting gaffe, the CHINA POST today said the teacher had volunteered to be her ‘‘CONDUCTOR’’, whatever that means…
