Here’s a side story about lying to the police in Taiwan. I was involved in a scooter accident. A woman came careering the wrong way out of a one way street clipped the back of my scooter and fell off and hurt herself rather badly. She told police that she hadn’t driven out of the one way street, but had come from a different angle. When I was making my statement at the police station they had already had CCTV footage of the accident showing that this was a lie. When I pointed out that the woman had lied about it in her written and signed statement it was brushed off. “Everyone lies sometimes in the heat of the moment”, is what I was told by the police officer.
In summary OP, I think you’ll probably be fine. Someone equating flipping the bird to a bus with drunk driving and killing a man is absurd. You’ve done the sensible thing and got a lawyer, and you haven’t lied in any signed statements. You can probably just move on with your life.
