OP You have been on forumosa now since 2010, right?
If I were you, I’d practice the words paisei paisei (spoken sincerely while looking at the ground), and get ready to pay up if needed.
Good luck.

This part is really the key. If prosecutors decide to try to convict you this is the maximum penalty. The only way you’ll end up in prison is if you don’t have 9000nt to your name, but it’s unlikely to be that high. The other issue is if the driver tries to sue you in civil court. Here payments can be higher, as with @Marco and his 30,000nt payout? My understanding is that you have some cause to counter sue for wrongful imprisonment if he tries this, and then things will drag on through the courts and mediation. This isn’t not really useful for anyone, so I would guess it’s unlikely but not impossible that you’ll end up in civil court having to make some sort of payment. As with all legal matters, best to consult with a lawyer.
Nope he will have to kneel and cry and beg forgiveness to make it a sincere apology.
I doubt the OP will be on television or running for public office, so no need to take things that far.

Isnt it normal to try and open the doors if I want to get off the bus?
That’s when you are supposed to pull out your phone.
Yeah, that was a mistake on my part. But surely the internal bus cameras would show him stopping illegally and getting off the bus.
I agreed to $25000. Settled out of court. Agreed to not file charges.
Everybody has a bad day. Make it right. Liquor him up and have him sign something Marcos lawyer has prepared!
No need to bring the Philippines into this. ![]()

President of the Philippines would have the perfect name if he just removed one letter.
Either way, there’s no apostrophe!
Surely doing nothing is best in this case? I hope the police told him that he wasn’t allowed to detain me on the bus.
Yes, but he also threatened me in public, which I’m assuming is also a crime.
he was slandering you in public, which is also an offense here I reckon. Just say you file a case against him for slander and also that he pushed you.
THATS how it works in Taiwan. Fire with fire because it costs so little to file a case.
Say you’ll file if they aren’t willing to drop it

That’s why you need to call the lawyer. The best would be to have the lawyer say if you drop it I will drop it.
It SEEMS like you both have dirt on each other. Let’s not throw the dirt and nobody gets dirty.
Yes, there’s video footage of him putting his hands on me.
Never mind the other immature ppl laughing at your expense here , you actually have a good case to get them to drop it once he put his hands on you and also chewing you up in public . You may need a lawyer to request the video footage for you before it goes ‘missing’.
Isn’t it normal to try and open the doors if I want to get off the bus?
No. Not in any country.
Yes, there’s video footage of him putting his hands on me.
Wasn’t that after you tried to use the controls in the bus.
I then tried to push the door opening button and he physically wrestled me off the controls.
Ok so don’t wait for him to file something first?
