You’ll be surprised. Some people like maid role play.

But why would trash collectors need to ride Uber when they already have the trucks??

Btw, there is a Facebook group for cleaners and clients in Taipei and it basically functions like an uber for maids. When I posted on there with a specific job (date/time/location/task) I literally had 20 people reach out within an hour wanting the job. It makes me feel bad how desperate they are. Wish I had work for all of them.

I was playing persona 5 royal and one part had the guys teacher working part time as a maid escort, so it must be a thing in Japan.

Folks in my building share a vacuum. I wanted to clean this weekend, but I’ve got to find out who has it. It isn’t in the public spot.
Now I’ve lost my motivation to clean

Based on my eating experience at that joint, I suspect if you took out the meat (as suggested above by @the_bear ) you would be left with . . . a pile of salt.

There’s a reason for that. Most people can’t afford maids here, and most Taiwanese maids can’t afford to charge a low rate. That’s usually the case in countries with relatively low income inequality, and everybody is middle-class.

Some countries solve this by importing foreign maids which Taiwan has yet to do (?), but even foreign workers here aren’t legally allowed to take freelance cleaning jobs, which makes this business idea not a very good one.

How so? I think the large number of domestic helpers fall under that description, not to mention all the migrant workers doing it on the side.

Look at any job ad for a maid/cleaner on Facebook or whatever, and see how many of the respondents look Taiwanese.

Where are you seeing a large number of foreign maids in Taiwan? Foreign maids are illegal here. Being a maid is not one of the eligible job categories for receiving an employment visa.

Even the foreign caretakers (who are not maids) you see pushing elderly people in wheelchairs around Taiwan are not allowed to obtain side gigs.

I don’t think building an app that caters to illegal work is the best business idea.

Are you joking? You can Google ā€œdomestic helpers Taiwanā€. There are loads of them, and it’s well known that there are loads of them. I believe it’s a separate category along with caregivers (whose responsibilities also include typical maid duties, as in cleaning, cooking, etc.), and they’re specifically excluded from being protected by the LSA with respect to minimum wage and working hours etc.

I agree, which is why I said something along those lines at the start of the thread.
