Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) - Kaohsiung's Recalled Mayor

After reading this article you can understand why many places in Taiwan have a vibe of a place that “used to be cool”. stores and buildings that were grand in the 70 and 80s now are dilapidated versions of the past.

Plus rampant disregard for the environment they were inhabiting is arguably not very glory like. Like a cheat code in a video game, do whatever you want to get ahead and dont worry about cutting corners. Taiwan has changed for the better. And looks to keep changing that way if allowed. Money isnt the only important metric.

I thought the article was okay until it had that weird segue into murder cases. If a student handed me that as an essay, I would’ve crossed out that whole section for being off-topic. The author should’ve clarified why that’s related.

Anyway, Han running in 2024 is something I would look forward to… lots of hilarious antics with him climbing trees to catch mosquitoes and then watching the inevitable trouncing he would get on election night.

I hope so too, just because I am terrified of someone competent running for the Chinese KMT. they might actually win. Chinese KMT + More Xi regime terrifies the freedom loving sect of Taiwan.

Wanna know what they call a competent KMT politician?

A new New Yorker?

Nahh. A DPP President.

Because only a competent person would see that working with the CCP is working with the devil.

Oh. I thought you were referring to the Flight to Flushing in the 80s and 90s.

oof. I was going to say yes…but…

oof. not sure I agree though, DPP presidents of the past decades have been vocally pro Taiwan and peace. which is the polar opposite of KMT.

So . . . are you saying that this guy is unlikely to be the next President of Taiwan?

Guy

Yeah, that’s what makes them competent.

It’s a jab.

Just in case any of us have forgotten that this man is the speaker (technically, the “president”) of the Legislative Yuan.

Guy

He always reminds of a guy like this used car salesman.

Talk about failing upwards!
