Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) - Kaohsiung's Recalled Mayor

I just nearly pissed myself is that for real?

Note the facebook ID: herohan.

Is this legit? It’s your call.

Guy

We know its fake, his sleeves are not rolled up

For that level of rolled-up sleeve commitment, you need to call Kolas:

Guy

you know there are laws for cyber stalking now

OK I’ll add the factual part: this is the DPP’s candidate for Hualien. If you support her, please vote in the upcoming municipal elections!

Guy

Are we allowed to vote?

maybe we should set up our own poll here. have sections like best sleeves, or best fist in the air photo?

I think that’s just his excuse to go drool over her “wrists” in person :joy:

If anyone sees inside or knows a link pics, please share. if it’s a comical type thing, as it seems, I want to get some for my Chinese KMT loving family members.

saw this one under the calendar

dang post just dissapeared.

after work I am looking into this calendar for my treasonous family members. a joke chinese kmt gift they look at all year would have been PERFECT! but @afterspivak after nailed this post with the narcissist, well done!

Sorry about the screenshots, facebook sometimes wont allow opening a picture onthe phone for some reason. But they were cool to allow this photo to open and download:

I often wonder if Korean fish is actually a comic at heart. if he wasnt such a fucking douche, he could be amazing.

but more importantly ,I am wondering if some things he does is intentional irony for shits n grins.

I mean seriously. as a comical discussion, he is gold. it wa only sad so many millions voted for this ass to be their country’s president! no wonder the US cant trust us with F35s…

edit.

oh man, traitors go awesome with with alcohol!

Heaps of middle aged Taiwanese people voted for Han Kuo-yu and his nostalgic vision of what life was in late martial law Taiwan. What’s up with this nostalgia? What were those people thinking?

In what might be the most awesome article I’ve read this week, C Donovan Smith looks back at the late 1980s and early 1990s to re-examine that distinct era, warts and all, which he experienced as a young man in central and northern Taiwan. It’s a great read, with more to come soon.

Guy

Very good article, though i didn’t really understand his example with the murders.

Yes I stumbled over that part of the article too. It seems to be a reference to the world inhabited by (working class) members of that particular generation—a world marked by gangsters, violence, disputes, and other aspects of life not visible if you’re just reading UDN (like the oldersters) or for the under 40 set? :person_shrugging:

Guy

Does this media company happen to have Mandarin versions of their articles as well? There is always a different tone when something is written in mandarin compared to written in english then translated [well] that is hard to get across to many here, especially the auntie/uncle age specifically. Grandmas and grandpas are so much easier to talk to. I agree with the sentiment they are a victim of their time. it has lasting consequences. Solid evidence we need to treat our young generation right in hope of a better tomorrow.

a good article, would love to share to family members if a mandarin version is available.

My wife feels the same way. I think we were probably neighbors in another lifetime.

It’s the notorious Taiwan News, not CNA/Focus Taiwan. If they have a Mandarin version of their articles, I have not come across them.

Guy

Is taiwan news famous for something? I dont follow them, but seems you are hinting at something everyone else knows hehe. Can you let an idiot in on the joke?

If you wish, you can peruse this thread at your leisure. The “K-Man” refers to this news outlet’s chief editor. Enjoy!

Guy

Cheers. have seen kman mentioned here a lot, it’s all coming together now. Cheers, will read on with an added sense of sarcasm :innocent:

In today’s Taiwan News, C Donovan Smith explores the flip side of the negative 1980s and 1990s—the exuberant growth model that many in Taiwan assumed would roll on forever, but of course got halted by the end of the 1990s when wage stagnation hit.

The beneficiaries of that time, Smith contends, later turned to Han and viewed his candidacy as a chance to bring back those glory days.

@izzy will note (as I did) the return of the example with the murders. Is it now clear?
