It doesn’t. Not at all. I’ve been using genetic algorithms at work for close to 2 decades now… It’s a metaphor for a search / optimization method on your predefined variables to try and limit the number of permutations required, while not getting stuck in a local optimum. That’s it, really. There are also other algorithms such as swarming, simulated annealing, etc that are inspired by biological processes, but they don’t, in any meaningful manner, mimic them.
