Have you ever bought anything off shopee.tw?

There was nothing there in English. I am a PC user, not an app user, although I have it installed. Also, since the goods have not been paid for it was not clear how I was going to pay. If I wanted to do anything besides pay in cash I would have done that on the website, in advance.

We just went to pick up some things this afternoon. Kiosk is behind a storefront down the street. The room is well lit, bright white with some orange lines here and there. Behind the kiosk is a bank of lockers, varying sizes. The kiosk didn’t have English options, all Chinese. The wife entered her phone number and a verification code and “click” we heard our locker door pop open.

Today the front door was broken (the vertical handle), but no problem getting in or out. Still pretty slick. I like the “click” experience.

Any idea how to pay for it if you have not paid in advance?

The machines have slots for bills and coins. After entering your phone number, the screen tells you how much you owe. It’s pretty easy to use.

Thanks. Maybe I am just blind. I did not see any way to insert coins or bills. Maybe I will go check it out again at lunch time.

Just to warn you, you can lose the option to do COD at all if you fail to collect too many times (I don’t know what the exact limit is). Probably annoying for the seller too, since they have to pay for shipping again.

I was going to ask what is COD but I suppose you mean Cash-On-Delivery. Worst case I can create a new account with my new ARC ID. I have only not picked up something once. I had received broken goods twice in a row from the same shop and the third time the box looked completely smashed so I left it.

Still this is good info thanks.

Its this true or scam?
4000 nt or less for a tv?

Finally got scammed for the first time in Shopee.
Order goods for around 1000, but get delivered a cheap looking mouse pad that the seller said as a gift. Because the status become delivered, the seller and the system try to make me close the order and release the payment to the seller.
Text the seller, the seller said, please give address and phone number, the goods will be delivered directly (outside the system). Please cancel the report to Shopee and close the order.

Got bad feeling and immediately ask for return and refund. I could sense potential any of these. In order of likelihood to happen from highest to lowest.

  1. Not delivered at all, because order closed, seller get the money.
  2. Delivered but I need to pay the delivery fee again.
  3. Delivered, for some reason. I got a free gift that I never order, and my actual order.

Shopee currently arrange the sample goods to be returned while seller asking for me closing the order.

I would normally avoid things that clearly not located in Taiwan.
Cannot really tell how the tax or the paper works needed or simply a scam.
But, then, this is new.

This is the point where you need to raise a dispute in Shopee and not (under any circumstances) click the “order received” button to release the funds to the seller.

Obviously you shouldn’t close the order or cancel the dispute in Shopee.

The amount of time you have between collection and manually releasing the funds to seller seems to vary quite a lot, but you can also extend the Shopee guarantee period for a few days if necessary.

The most suspicious part is the seller asking me to close the order and the goods will be delivered directly outside the system.

Have had experience where the bonus (clearly stated in the beginning) delievred separately. But never asked to close it until all are delivered.

Yeah, so you say “no” and leave things on Shopee. What’s the problem?

Just telling the war stories for you newbs.

I’m not a newb on Shopee, have been using it for years. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

You didn’t actually get scammed yet, unless your did hit the delivered button and had the money sent to the seller.

Didn’t seem like it would be a very successful scam, but then you never know in Taiwan.

Not sure who this was directed at but from how you describe you’re dealing with the issue you might want to direct it inwardly.

Hypothetical “you”, not necessarily you.

True, not yet proven as scam.

I reckon I must have purchased something off Shopee at least a couple times per month over the past few years without issue.

One thing, in the search results page you can select “Taiwan” as the “shipped from” location which will remove all overseas shipments.

I also almost always select the COD option shipping to a convenience store or the local shopee shop, just a few times I have selected paying via creditcard for something large requiring home delivery (wooden flooring, fridge freezer, painting supplies, computer desk to name a few).

I also will most often select goods with highest sales/feedback rather than trying to save that extra NT$5… just not worth it. In someones store you can also see when they were “last active”, which I find a good indication of how responsive/quickly they will ship.

I would be weary about completing an order prior to receiving the goods because funds will then be released to the seller. Even when collecting COD I’ll wait a day or two before confirming or at least until I’ve had chance to try the product.

Other than that, if it is something I really need guaranteed in a rush I’ll use PChome or visit a real store, however these days many stores on Shopee are almost as fast.

I was looking for a Daiso notebook on Shopee when I came across this notebook from Mainland China.

At 160 pages, it’s a little slimmer than the 203 page Leuchturm1917 but the price is a fraction of the bigger notebook off of Amazon

I have had a little trouble buying things from Shopee that are sourced in Mainland, but I’ll give it a try for this

The Leuchturm1917 in Eslite

The paper thickness is also very different.
