How to leave Taiwan after China declares war?

I remember reading that the US doesn’t sell certain tech to Taiwan (e.g. submarine tech, F35s) to avoid the need for this. Seems unlikely that they would try to demolish everything, because that would be impossible!

Oh yes Pat Robertson, these televangelists are so trustworthy.

Probably not, but they won’t give up either.

Since the Ukraine thing began, the military has been inundated with calls on how to help, get trained, etc.

they will follow in the foot steps of wang jingwei

i think the usa is not afraid of tech falling to enemy hands in battle… the ROC army has had so many PRC spies in its midst that no one will trust them with high end stuff.

Idk hard to know. When it comes to survival it’s fight or flight, and no one really knows until the time comes. If I had to guess the army would absolutely fight but no street to street, door to door guerrilla warfare.

Yes they can let it go (even if they pretend they cannot).

If the UK could learn to peacefully (and productively) co-exist with Ireland, China can learn to do so with Taiwan too.

That’s not the same situation though at any level. I’m not sure if you got the point

China can’t stand being surrounded by US bases and the first island chain.

Then they should play nice. They could have Taiwan in their camp so easily. But no they had to go in and fuck up HK. Couldn’t wait another 20 years for the treaty to end on it’s own.

There are no (official) US bases on Taiwan.

So you’re saying the PRC should now turn their missile to Okinawa, Kyushu, Honshu, and South Korea?

Next!

its not the same situation since its a different political system, had the UK been an authoritarian country without checks and balances and separation of power between parliament and government i dont think they would have had peaceful coexistence.
look hiw hard the British empire fought to keep India …that is how hard it will be for china to give up thw dream of Taiwan

That’s Xi Jinping’s contribution to world history. The genocide man who could not play nice.

Taiwan voted out the KMT 6 years ago.

Say what? Am I missing something here?

Agree that Beijing’s nonaccountable authoritarian ethnofascist government is the problem here. Now if they could only fix that without getting whupped in a war first . . .

TBH i dont think so. it will involve a cultural change as well, all the regimes in china were authoritarian and unaccountable, they just replace each other every few decades or centuries.

Next what?

You are missing the point completely. Taiwan is a US friendly country and in the case of a war could be used for basing or locking china in. That’s the point of McArthur’s unsinkable air carrier.

Of course China has missiles aimed at all those bases, including Guam.

China doesn’t want it’s biggest competitor in its backyard. It wants the US out of Asia completely. How would the US react to China bases in Cuba and Barbados?

I’m not saying I agree with China, but understand their reasoning. Understanding your enemies rationality doesn’t make you weak, it makes you stronger

I don’t disagree with any of this.

I think nothing Beijing could do would make Taiwanese want to give up sovereignty

If they weren’t such assholes Taiwanese would absolutely side with the Chinese. Do you have any doubt about it? They kept voting KMT ffs :man_facepalming:. Every time a DPP person was elected it was because of Chinese over reach.

They could have become strategic allies with Taiwan instead of trying to incorporate it into the empire. But instead they decided they want to be an evil empire. To hell with making the world a better place as long the Chinese empire is absolute and their pockets full nothing else matters to them.
