:facebook: Huge protest in HK against Chinese extradition law

Social media is great and all, but it can’t change human nature. Besides, the gatekeepers have set their walled gardens and censorship to turn it into nothing more than a new form a mass media.

Technically, it could easily be decentralized, and thus made free of censorship. Practically, the sheeple - the vast majority of voters - won’t cooperate. You can’t make them see the problem, let alone understand the solution. Talk about peer-to-peer and watch their eyes glaze over.

IDK, I think the world and HK are not from being pushed over the edge with the shit the CPP has been doing. videos of them slaughtering their citizen might be their downfall if that happens.

works

So far more than 100 businesses have declared Wednesday as a strike day for their staff to protest with conscience during the second reading of the extradition law at the legislative council in Admiralty HK.

We need to guard against these kinds of ‘leaders’ getting a foothold in Taiwan.

Guard by what means?

well, “We” cannot do anything, as furryners don’t have a right to vote.

Yeah true we can’t do much.

There’s always the gunboat veto.

We can at least agree , Reg, that you have an unalienable “right” to protest…even if you can’t :yum:

Extradition only.

Even though the govt here doesn’t treat long terms residents and some foreigners fairly we still can separate the issue and do our best to stop ‘our’ island being taken over.
Fight for the govt when I can’t be a citizen fair and square . Not guaranteed. Fight for family. Not a question.

Not just the difference in two legal systems.

Taiwan is independent and doesn’t want to be included in the Hk, Macau and mainland China extradition law to be legislated by HKgov. It’s another tactic that the BJgov is exploiting to exert political power onTaiwan.

Yep,.They want to be able to drag Taiwanese people though HK and then to China.
Also to intercept Taiwanese in HK airport.

They want to nab anyone and extort on the mainland via Hk.

Carrie was appointed by BJ.
Hkers will vote with their feet.

By siding with the USA!

Ah, yes. Team America, World Police.

Whenever America comes and saves a lesser democracies’ bacon, that bacon is well and truly saved from its external threat - but not from itself. If you keep finding yourself tied to train tracks, you might have other issues.

HK as it was was lost when the UK gave it back to the PRC.
