I went to McDonald's and I'm a bit traumatized

When people make a plan to voluntarily go eat at McDonald’s and are surprised at how shitty it is. Like 711 or any other mush. We need to raise our children on actual vegetables and meat, and hope to God they stop eating the absolute trash we eat on the daily

I am convinced me and most people I know will die from food related deaths hahaha.

I end up in a mcdknalds/kfc/whatever type place every now and then too. Not a single time I didn’t regret it, for over 20 years lol!

I had to look up what Canadian bacon was.

This is NOT Canadian Bacon. This is round ham. Whoever decided to call this Canadian Bacon should be doused in Maple Syrup and left to the Canadian Geese.

The description is correct even if the photo is a bit off.

A new McD’s opened near our house last year. Immaculate, incredibly clean (even the glass on the kiosks), and the hamburgers actually look the most like those in ads that I’ve ever seen. So probably still being staffed by corporate.

I just got into town so haven’t been back yet. Guess we shall see, maybe later this afternoon.

In the states I love the whole line of McMuffins. Also love the standard cheeseburger, the standard hamburger, and the standard double cheeseburger a.k.a. the McDouble. IMO the center of each of those sandwiches - where almost all the reconstituted onion, the skinny wimpy pickle, ketchup, and mustard reside is the best bite in American cuisine such as it is (ymmv).

Back to Taiwan, at least the fountain Coca-Cola has been preserved as the best you can get anywhere in the world (I skip the ice, though). McD’s Coke is the best Coke is ever going to taste. McD overengineers it’s Coke, from the syrup formula to the diameter of the straw, and I love it.

By default they give you the same amount of one pack of tomato sauce for any size of fries. For large fries it is not enough.
Previously you could modify your order and add additional pack of sauce for fries at the order screen. Recently they removed that option. Now you can only choose which sauce you want, 1 tomato sauce or nothing. No additional tomato sauce for you!

Just ask at the counter when picking yout order.

This seems to be a common claim on the interwebs, but personally I find Coke from a glass bottle infinitely superior to McD’s coke, perhaps the interwebs claims were sponsored by McD’s…

When Coke is made with sugar cane, it’s even better

I let them bring the order to the table. I have no wish to hang around the pickup area for so long.
Then I would feel bad for the staff to make another run to the counter.

Fermented sugar cane is even better.

:astonished:

Corn now?

American Coke is made with high-fructose corn syrup and Mexican Coke is crafted with cane sugar. Cane sugar is less processed than high-fructose corn syrup, so it offers a more natural — some would say purer or more clean-tasting — version of the drink.

Kind of similar in how certain countries utilize the coca plant (cochise source, then extracted) and others ban it. Or how different packaging (glass vs plastic vs aluminum) have different chemicals in their recipe. Seems logical corn is in the US given the AG push towards corn over sugar cane.

Not so familiar as it’s all trash. But I do notice the taiwanese coke is crap.

Coke in a glass bottle is always better anywhere in the world. It’s like a whole separate different experience.

Sometimes you visit some country and the only reason they still have Coke in a glass bottle is because the factory is the same one they’ve been using for like 60 or 80 years.

No doubt McD loves the PR. I’m a big fan of the glass bottle, too, but frankly if we go there then I probably prefer Royal Cola.

I disagree, but to each his own. :bowing:

I’ve been drinking Coke for almost seven decades now, and to my mind the best Coca-Cola gets - the very best, thirst-quenching apogee of Coca-Cola - is when the syrup ratio is right and it’s then served in a waxed paper cup, and sucked in via a paper straw. Of course you can’t find that nowadays. There’s something about that slight tinge of paper that, to my mind, really makes Coke pop on a blistering hot day.

Ok enough with the nostalgia.

My great aunt worked for Coke when they still made it with cocaine. Very cool aunt.
Coke with salted peanuts was also a thing in the South back in the day.
I miss the McDonalds fried apple pies. Could still get them in Taiwan last time I was there, but they have not been in the US for ages.
