abcs are the types to accuse white guys who prefer asians as having a fetish. actually i’m only into the asians from asia. it would also save them the trouble of interacting with the creepy asian fetishist that i am in their eyes 
I totally agree. IMO anyone who selects by appearance is potentially missing out. However, it is their choice.
Not in terms of race of any factors of appearance because they don’t ask these things when you make the account. They do however put people you swip right more ahead of your list of people you decide on.
Exactly, so the algorithm is learning. Just as the algorithm will learn you are a 5, hence no point in putting in ladies who are 10 it will also learn you don’t like e.g blacks or girls with big tattoos in their face.
I’m sure you are not asked when signing up if you are a 5 or 10, hence this has to come from the algo learning based on your own behaviour and the behaviour of others(accept/reject)

Too right. It’s absolutely f’ing mental. You’ve probably heard of the “MGTOW” crowd, and although I think they’re misguided, I can understand why they’ve just opted out.
That pretty much sums up the zeitgeist, I reckon. An overriding compulsion to tell everyone else what they should think, coupled with a pathological inability to examine one’s own views objectively.
Depends on the app, some do ask for your race.
One thing I regularly bump into is the learning algorithm’s imposition of filters. Like, I’m swiping in Seattle and I bump into this sexy Asian MILF. I swipe right. All of a sudden the app shows me every single Asian MILF in town. A few days later I swipe a cute 18-y-o black girl, then get to see all the pre-20 black girls the app can offer.

We were talking about tinder in particular because I worked with them before.
But yes, some do as there are a lot.
There are also many apps and sites for guys who like large women, Christians dating Christians, Asian men and white women, sugar daddy and baby, travel “dating”, even for people with herpes and other STDs. Just everything you can think of.

As I recall, minorities can’t be racist (or so goes current PC thinking), ergo, white people in Taiwan can’t be racist.

This is fascinating. I wonder if the algorithm has measurably racist effects (e.g. black women being consistently rated as uglier) that some lawyer might sue over.

I find the algorithm infinitely interesting.
Take black women. Because I grew up when dirt was young, I knew some real, live, actual racists when I were a lad. One of the guys thought black women were ugly not because of their skin color per se, but because of (1) their wide nose and (2) their hair.
I wonder how hard the algorithm works to find traits other than black skin color that result in left swipes (I hope that’s the right direction; by swiping to the left I mean the user rejects them).
For example, assuming this woman had her image stored in Tinder, would the algorithm fail to show her to such a guy?
Does the algorithm stop discriminating after “skin color = black?” Or does it look for other reasons the male or the female are rejected, based on the user’s past behavior? Or does it lump all dark-skinned women into a bucket in order to bolster sista solidarity? (reject one black woman, you are racist, no more black women for you).
Pretty interesting stuff indeed.
