I came to the clinic 5 months ago, because I had gastrointestinal discomforts since years. I saw many doctors in my home country Germany, I did a lot of tests and got some medications, but no one ever could tell me what the initial cause for my discomforts are. When I came to Taiwan I was kind fo desperate because the intestinal complaints really affected my everyday life. Gladly I found Dr. Hsieh’s website and I immediately got an appointment. From the first appointment on I felt very comfortable at the clinic. Especially during my first appointment Dr. Hsieh invested much time in interviewing me about my complaints. After he put together an individual mixture of traditional chinese herbs I could collect at the clinics pharmacie. In the following weeks I went to the clinic every second week and he always adjusted the medicine according to my recent complaints. First it is not tasty to drink the herbs, but after a few weeks I slowly felt an improvement. You need to be patient to see an effect, since the traditional medicine isn’t really strong. But after 5 months now my discomfort reduced around 80 % and I feel the best since years! It really feels like the herbs helped my body to find a balance again. I am so glad I tried the traditional medicine, since I wouldn’t like to take the medium effective strong medicine on a regular basis. Gladly even my German health insurance pays for the TCM treatment. All in all I can totally recommend seeing Dr. Hsieh and giving TCM a chance!

I think I have Sciatica. Is acupuncture effective at solving this?

Judging from my clinical experience, it depends on the severity of your sciatica, acupuncture can make the symptom better most of the time. Proper exercise on the lower back is also very important. Some patients combine acupuncture with rehabilitation and they are satisfied with the result.

Here’s a meta-analysis article published in Dec 2022 that is worth reading.

Conclusion: In this systematic review, acupuncture treatment was significantly effective and safe compared to analgesics in sciatica. In the future, studies with a rigorous study design are required to increase the validity of the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture treatment for sciatica.

Two years later, I passed the qualifying exam this August. :star_struck:

My research focuses on the relationship between body constitution and diseases using health databases. I will focus on colorectal cancer first and see if we can help patients prevent the occurrence of colorectal cancer.
