So I’ve been officially baptized and confirmed. The eucharist wafer is a bit bitter, because unlike protestant churches here, we don’t use grape juice…
Two Jewish friends pass a Catholic Church on which a large poster addresses non-Catholics: “Come to us, accept Catholicism, and you instantly get $30,000 in cash!” While walking away, the two friends become engaged in a debate about whether the offer is meant seriously.
A week later the two friends meet again in front of the same church, and one of them confides to the other: “I still wonder if that offer is serious.” the other replies condescendingly: “Ah you Jews, all you think about is money!”
I noticed that, but I was more curious about the thing on the wall. That’s a bit of an odd statue/casting, isn’t it? Or is that normal in churches here?
(I should note that I probably haven’t stepped foot in a church for maybe 15–20 years, and even then it was as a tourist or wedding guest. I may not be up to date with all the latest trends.)
See, that’s the depiction I’d expect to see on the wall. I’m actually curious though if they use different ones here?
That guy looks a bit like the bloke from the ghost army in Lord of the Rings. (TL, I’m just joking — better not to mention this to your church people.)
That’s kind of how it seemed to me, yeah… an odd choice for a post about one’s baptism. But as a non-believer I’m fine with blasphemy anyway, so I figured it’s not my business.
Yeah I know. It just seemed kind of non-serious for something people doing this stuff usually take seriously, that’s all. Not that I’m offended by it personally.
