Just UK Police Tbh
Slow and useless

When I lived in a smaller town in central Europe, one day, when getting off the streetcar in the central plaza, I saw some random guy running in my direction. “Fine,” I thought, “he’s just running to catch the streetcar.” Instead, he barrels into me and knocks me over, intentionally.

I remember that the instant before contact, I sensed that he was coming into my space, so I instinctively turned and moving to the side to avoid a collision, and he clearly also changed directions so as to tackle me despite my evasion.

Shocked, I got up, and the guy was laughing and shouting/pointing at me, “You pushed me! Watch where you’re going!” He was clearly trying to make a scene by goading me and waiting for a reaction. Fortunately, I sustained no injuries, so I decided just to silently shrug it off. No use in escalating the situation, when bystanders and likely police would be of no help. I’m pretty sure I was singled out due to my Asian appearance, because I also encountered many other racially-motivated situations while living there, like having “foreigner go home!” scrawled on my apartment door.

I think the only way to avoid these situations is situational awareness.

Can you say what country is this, so I can avoid in my travels there? I go to Ireland and Italy for work (and before school), had nothing close to what you experienced so wanted avoid the country you lived in?

So sorry to hear your story, that is terrible ! (The worst I had was some teens mocking Chinese also in Central Europe (Berlin) but I can also say by far most people are good.

I doubt its racially motivated. Not that there are any details to this story to suggest such a thing - such as the attackers were from the chinese embassy or something.

But as it stands its probably just london motivated. The girl should think herself lucky that she didnt get robbed, stabbed or killed and consider not going to london ever again.

And yes the police in the UK are now a joke. They will turn up at your door if a child says something bad on twitter. But for actual crimes such as the one in the story they do F all then you get the mayor of london boasting about lowering crime. Dystopian broken country.

Let me simply point to this article.

In retrospect, it could have been much worse. The guy could have tried to beat me, rob me, pull a knife, or something else. I could sense in the moment of tension after I got up that he was waiting for an excuse to escalate, which I refused to give him. I’m just glad that I could walk away unscathed.

On the subject of avoiding these kinds of situations, I mentioned situational awareness. I think 2 other factors would be: don’t draw attention to yourself, and don’t make yourself look like an easy target. Bullies look for easy targets.

Thanks for the warning. Asahi Dry is my favorite and I just bought a six pack today but I’m going to pick up another six pack tomorrow in case the shelves run dry.

didn’t know Asahi owns Pilsner Urquell.
wasn’t too into the Super Dry when I tried it a couple/few years ago. Maybe time to give it another go.
Recently moved on from Kirin green/gold and have been liking the Buckskin “German style ale”, which I think they previously labelled as Kolsch.

Also Peroni in Italy. They now brew Asahi in Italy for EU distributions.

Japanese beer and alcohol market is slowing down so they have been making moves to capture other markets

It wasn’t me!

Air travel is getting hard with people like this

I once saw a Laos detention room toilet. Bus we were travelling on had shitloads of meth. Local culprit and passenger eventually picked out but never forgot the jungle smells. Trafficker or entitled princess. Throw them in the slammer, force them to make joss sticks, and eat bread and cockroach feces. Willl make the ghost of Cato the Younger proud in the transformation from princess to stoic.
