I only heard news that LTE will come out in China next year. It seems there’s a bit of political issue in getting LTE licensed in Taiwan and it just doesn’t look like it’s coming in the near future (read: for several years).
As for nano sims, will you be able to get the phone company to provide you with a nano sim if its a prepaid card, or do you have to have a real contract?
The iPhone 5 has some other non LTE upgrades included such as HSPA+ - not sure if those are supported in Taiwan or not. It also has upgraded WiFi, so depending on what kind of router you have, you may see some improvements there as well.
This is the type of thing that you’ll have to inquire at your local mobile store. It’s also the type of thing that you’ll probably get a different answer from, each time you talk to someone new there, depending on their knowledge level. So if you don’t like the answer you hear, just ask a different person or at a different shop. The answers will be more clear, the closer it is to coming out in Taiwan, since carriers will need to plot their nano SIM strategy by then.
This is how much better the iPhone 5 is … it’s a big thing!
Jimmy Kimmel Live - First Look: iPhone 5 showing people and old iPhone telling them it’s the new 5 … seriously, they don’t even see and feel the difference?
This seems to be an annual ritual. Media pans Apple for releasing another “boring” iPhone without much innovation. And yet they continue to smash sales records.
It would be interesting if Apple were to market & then release an iPhone that was heavier, thicker and slightly worse than its predecessors.
I suspect they’d still get a whole bunch of orders.
I won’t be buying, but I wonder if the wife will. She’s on iPhone something, and the way it works here is that when she upgrades, I upgrade too with her throwaway.
I can’t be that far away from ditching my 10 year old Nokia :discodance:.
Even if it did fit, the lightening connector does not have analog audio out.. uses USB/digital audio.. so nothing for the adapter to adapt.. same with Analog video out.. no more ability to connect video out from your iphone/itouch to your TV using one of those video adapters so you can watch iTunes content on a big screen.. of course you could purchase an AppleTV unit and use AirPlay..
The lightning port DOES support audio / video out. It’s just that the current adapters that Apple sell don’t support this feature. I’m sure there will be all sorts of adapters and cables coming out over the next little while to support this and other functions.
