Italy's PM Meloni arrives in Japan, meanwhile Canada's PM visits Beijing

Heir keir is bringing the UK to a new level of cuckery.

They also recently gave up the chagos islands because of “international law,”.. as judged by an ex CCP official. Who surely did not have Chinese interests in mind, no chance of that! And the irony of the CCPs history of not following international laws..

In 2019, Chinese judge Xue Hanqin, then Vice-President of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), was part of the 13-1 majority ruling that the UK’s administration of the Chagos Islands was unlawful and should end. The ICJ advised that the archipelago should be returned to Mauritius to complete its decolonization.

You couldn’t make this stuff up.

That’s awesome. I know the founder of GTI. Russ’s father is a Taiwanese dissident and his mom is Korean. His wife is Japanese.

Well seems not, China wants Panada back, so less trade or reverse trade. Japan stands up for Taiwan, not like Canada

Canada should stop sending warships through the strait on FONOPS then, waste of money apparently

I checked for totals with ChatGPT on FONOPS transits, it gave me data since 2019

Canadian navy: 10
Japanese navy: 2
Italian navy: 0

If this is Canada not standing up for Taiwan, I agree it should stop. Those transits cost Canadian taxpayers a lot of money!

As for pandas, again Japan is far behind. Canada gave back the last pandas years ago

Jurisdiction: Japan

Current pandas (2026): 0

Historically received: Approximately 30+ pandas (gifts and later loans combined) since 1972

Notes: First two pandas (Kang Kang, Lan Lan) were gifted in 1972 following normalization of relations; subsequent pandas were long-term loans. Japan has no pandas as of early 2026 after the most recent returns.

Jurisdiction: Canada

Current pandas (2026): 0

Historically received: 4 pandas total (all on loan)

Notes: Adult pandas Er Shun and Da Mao arrived in 2013; twin cubs Jia Yueyue and Jia Panpan were born in Canada in 2015. All were returned to China by 2020.

Jurisdiction: Taiwan

Current pandas (2026): 1

Historically received: 2 pandas (gifted)

Notes: Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan were gifted in 2008. Tuan Tuan died in 2022; Yuan Yuan remains at Taipei Zoo and has produced offspring.

Jurisdiction: Italy

Current pandas (2026): 0

Historically received: 0 pandas

Notes: No confirmed records of panda gifts or loans from China to Italy.

And again the only country not supporting Taiwan by your panda metric is… Taiwan!

Japan’s stock markets at record highs this morning, as PM wins in massive landslide as she takes a hard anti China policy, and pro Taiwan !

Also a very xenophobic stance which sits well with the Japanese…

For example:

Government officials from Taiwan and the US going to meet Xi, I guess nobody is anti China except Japan?

So then good, Japan stays Japanese. Things are good, record stocks, nice living, fewer people, less China tourists

Lithuania stays Lithuanian, China keeps the pandas, everyone is happy

They should take a lesson from Meloni. She’s been quietly building ties to Taiwan after she took office and exited the belt and road nonsense. China doesn’t like these big symbolic announcements. Subtance over symbolic moves. She’s been quite savvy in geopolitics. Her hands are tied domestically as no one stays in power in Italy by making real changes that can improve the country. She has mastered the art of doing something at home without doing anything that upsets all the parties.

The way she gave Salvini who was almost PM before with a very popular party a visible position of Minister of Transport but neutered his ability to cause chaos with the EU is pretty smart. He gets to cut ribbons and look like he’s doing something in front of the camera but anyone who lives in italy knows they can’t even fix the roads.

Quietly making big announcements?

I don’t know, seems to me the country who signed up for belt and road has a lot of catching up to do compared to Canada. You should read up on the TPP after Trump dropped out, including the rename and also why Taiwan isn’t expecting to join any time soon…

These foreigners turning Japan into California should let that seaside town rot I guess

Go Sanae!! Go xenophobic Japanese right-wingers who support Taiwan!!

This never happened:

Oh no, another world leader going to China!

Sanae must manage Japan’s immigration policies with nuance and sagacity. The following is the experience of a blond Singaporean.
