Burger Pattie and more still on the list to try (saved on my map). Always on the lookout for recommendations and second opinions; this isn’t my thread it is a Kaohsiung burger thread!

Webberger: Second and third visits, same story.

Coulda been a contenders
There are other things on the menu, but the burger is decent if that’s your hankering
Better off going to McDonalds or Burger King, if you know your burgers at all
Honorable mention
Yaletown: Try the smoked meat sandwich. Wow
Not a traditional burger per say, but when I typed in 漢堡 in Google, a restaurant called Mon Poulet popped up.
They have a rotisserie chicken burger with cheese that is pretty juicy and delicious. Also comes with a rather decent size portion of fries. The gratin was also delicious.
Might just be the best damned chicken burger in Kaohsiung?
Start of the chicken burger war contenders?

There’s space on the thread for another list. Looks like a short list so far, but maybe people will have some suggestions

NEW Mon Poulet: thanks @Bluew for the suggestion, the chicken burger was fantastic
Curious, are burgers technically only beef? Or was Mon Poulet more like a sandwich.
Will take the wife there and fill myself up on some fries. Never heard of this place:)

I would say a chicken burger is a burger of a sort
Dare i ask…fish?
That would be an untapped market in Taiwan.
I cannot recall a single place taking the idea of a fish burger seriously—though I am far less committed to the hunt compared to the tireless @TT . ![]()

Fish burgers are everywhere. Yesterday my partner had one here. Looked good, she liked it. I liked the fries haha. Wasnt in ktown so no point mentioning it.
I wonder if burgers are supposed to be strictly a certain meat though. Never thought about it before. I have salad burgers often. Is it about the bun, the meat, having a patty type shape or?

I don’t believe fish is food

I guess I’d say shape of the bun, #impossibleburger

I picture sandwiches in terms of the bread and type of condiments added.
If you were to see a picture of the Mon Poulet burger, without seeing chicken vs beef in the photo, I’d imagine one would say it seems more like a burger than sandwich.
Burger the Goat is the last one on the list, I think. Always on the lookout for recommendations and second opinions; this isn’t my thread it is a Kaohsiung burger thread!

@TT Thank you for your service! This is an amazing list of must try restaurants.
This is an amazing list of must try restaurants.
Even the ones at the bottom are worth a visit. Legends and Foster Hewitt’s both do good pizzas, Arkansas and Lighthouse have food on the menu I like, Nobichon I’d like to try more but the stars don’t align. All 5 of these places have friendly owners who are often on premises making sure the customers are happy
The other places are nice, also. Worth noting that some of these places I only went to once and maybe just someone was having a bad day. Still, for me there’s only one place worth making an effort for when I want a good burger!
Most of the restaurants on this list I’ve visited because fellow Forumosans gave the suggestion, so it’s been a team effort.
I will add some suggestions for vegetarians, although I would imagine some of the burger joints listed above also have vegetarian options!
TheFREEN Burger - they have 2 vegetarian options, one is a fried mushroom, the other is a fake meat, they are both good and the fake meat is surprisingly unlike the normal Taiwan fake plastic meat, its more similar to the likes of beyond patties etc.
小孩吃素 chain - they sell a massive vegan/vegetarian double patty beyond burger but it is expensive, about 400ish NT, altho it does come with chips and some other sides, its def a big meal for one sit
得來素蔬 - my friend really enjoys this breakfast place for their burgers, I went there once and had it but wasn’t the biggest fan, still not a bad option and its the cheapest of the ones I’ve listed so far
There are prob a few others I haven’t thought of so far but the first 2 are def my preferred go to when I’m feeling that burger craving.
As a random side note, I had cheese nachos at Pizza Rock for the first time the other day and they were surprisingly good, very big portion, tasty, well done and fairly priced
nachos
Foster Hewitt’s has good nachos, better than Don Burrito IMO (but Don Burrito is awesome food, generally)
