Sometimes I go there and I like it other times I go there and I wonder what I’m eating. I think it has something to do with the particular chef that may or may not be there anymore but I’m not sure.
I tried Masa last week and was heavily disappointed. (I only tried the vegetarian tacos). It was tasteless, incredibly tiny and stingy with the ingredients, a bit cold and the tortilla was too chewy. Maybe it was a bad day for them, or they were running out of ingredients.
No, he wasn’t. This is his first year I believe. He was there for the meat lover’s festival last week though. (I’ve been to his place for parties a couple of times where he’s cooked, and I’ve always been impressed!)
Fonda Mexico is legit authentic and delicious… don’t come here expecting Americanized or Tex Mex fare. Also it costs more than Mexico, that should probably be obvious I know, but given the emphasis on CP I thought I’d mention it.
My wife had three tacos (chorizo, saudero, and carnitas) and the beef soup (no photo of the soup, sorry). I had a set that included corn tortillas, bean soup, enchiladas verde, flan, and Jamaica water.
