I wonder if the Republicans here realize their ālogicā to stike a sovereign state who has no direct involvement but is complicit through training and supplying arms is precisely the same argument Russia can make with regards Ukraine and by the Republicans own logic legitimizes Russia striking the US, Canada, the EU and whoever is training and supplying arms to Ukrainians to kill Russians and they also become a legitimate target.

Previously the US military hasnāt been involved in Israelās Lebanese adventure. No need.
I doubt that Israel would take that step without getting assurances first. Not easy for Israel and Iran to get at each other. Israel does have F35s (and presumably some spare parts) which could probably bomb Iran with impunity and the Iranians wouldnāt likely march across Syria for a real war. But Iran could shoot down an F35, maybe, and the US doesnāt want that in Iranian or Russian hands (China probably has most of the blueprints by now). Iran could also choke off the Straits of Hormuz. Not a big deal for Isral but bad news for everyone who needs that oil. Again, I think the US would be pissed at Israel. Trump could just as easily let thay happen until China steps up or the world pays their protection money.
