Oh please, behave. I have only been following this thread for a few days now, so spare me the density of your comments. I questioned his statement about being in exile and this is the first I’ve heard of his civil union being in CA. I have questioned Craig about why he thinks these men are being hypocritical when they do not seek SSM with the men they have sex with. Point is, they don’t. They just want sex. I don’t think there are any laws on the books or bills in the process that support a ban on gay sex.
I came into this thread with a very clear position in my head, that heaping scorn on politicians for their homosexual behavior is reprehensible. Nuff said.
It is not my business why Craig stays in Taiwan, why his partner doesn’t get a job in the US, or study; it is not my place to ask whether or not he has written any letters to any politicians about his situation friendly and unfriendly to his cause. Again, MY point was to say that mocking people for their sexual behavior is wrong, even if what they are doing politically is antithetical to that behavior. For me, Craifg is wasting his time here spouting off and not putting his words to papers and emails and directly them to the many CA Dems who actually do fully support SSM.
A box of rocks…
Are you from the US? Are you familiar with how US immigration law works? It doesn’t matter whether we are registered domestic partners in CA or married in MA, the US will not allow me to sponsor my partner for US residence. A heterosexual US citizen, on the other hand, can sponsor his/her partner for US residence. This is not equal protection under the law. Family values politicians are largely responsible for this not only not being rectified, but trying to codify it in the US Constitution. It’s not CA Dems, but family values Republicans who are doing this. I can write all the letters to my Reps and Senators until my fingers fall off, and I’d just be preaching to the choir.
The point of this thread, including the arguments made by Chris and me, is not about the politician’s sexual behavior per se, but combined with their active promotion of a family values agenda while not practicing what they preach. It’s astonishing that you don’t get that.
