Seven out of twelve months have no holidays.

And a four month stretch with no holiday.

The day before Lunar New Year’s Eve which falls on Jan. 27, a Monday, is also designated a holiday and will be made up on a later Saturday on Feb. 8

One make up day on Saturday February 7, 2025

Where are the public holidays? :smiling_face_with_tear:

Thank god – only one floating holiday… I’d much rather work a Saturday than have a Tu-Thu off… I can’t go camping anywhere special on the long weekend!

Are April 3rd and 4th public holidays this year (2025)?

Yes. Check out the first post.

Cool, thanks. My post was moved. This didn’t come up in my search (at least not toward the top of results).

The Ministry of Labor reminded employers that Children’s Day on April 3 and Tomb Sweeping Day on April 4 are national holidays, so they must give employees these days off with pay.

Is May 2 a flexible holiday?

Here’s a query for savvy forumosans.

May 1 is Labour Day. Will the banks be open, or not?

They will be closed. Even the state run banks.

Because Labor Day is a legal holiday for workers covered under the Labor Standards Act, and bank employees are included, banks whether private or government-owned are closed.

School teachers for example are not covered by the labor standards act and therefore even private schools will remain open.

But cram schools and private kindergartens will be closed because their teachers are covered by the labor standards act.

OK so the bank thing will not work out. :joy:

Do savvy forumosans reckon that the tax bureau will be open on May 1?

Guy

It will be.

Also it is the worst possible day to go… Many will be going there because they are off work.

I guess the foreigner line may be empty because the English teachers may be at work…:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan approved the new Memorial Days and Holidays Act

“4 + 1” extra nationwide days off:

  1. Little New-Year’s-Eve (小年夜 – the day before Lunar New-Year’s-Eve)
  2. Sept 28 – Confucius’ Birthday / Teachers’ Day
  3. Oct 25 – Taiwan Retrocession Day & Battle of Guningtou Memorial Day
  4. Dec 25 – Constitution Day
  • May 1 – Labor Day is upgraded from a workers-only holiday to a holiday for everyone.

It’s just got Blue Nazi fingerprints all over it.

According to the amendment, the legislation would be implemented on the day it is promulgated by the president, meaning that there would be three additional holidays in the second half of this year on Sept. 28, Oct. 25 and Dec. 25.

About f&cking time! The current strange arrangement is a bad joke.

The other choices look like a Deep Blue diehard’s wet dream. Such strange ideologues over there . . .
