What a pleasant surprise to find out that there’s now a stone oven pizza joint on the waterfront at Bitan.
Called Rendezvous, it offers pizza from NT$200-280, various pasta dishes, baked spuds, chips and salsa (real chips, not Doritos), wings and other odds and ends. Draught Stella at a pricey NT$180, but its buy two get one free, making it a more reasonable NT$120.
The pizza is damned good. No reason for Alleycat to be looking over his shoulder, but its good nonetheless. No trace of corn or peas and stone oven-baked. And of course there’s the view.
Bitan’s dining desert just got itself a new oasis.
Edit: Please note that they’re not open on Tuesdays.
By the way, there are 10 pizzas on the menu, numbered, er, 1-9. All but the 10th have English and Chinese. The 10th only has Chinese, but FYI, it’s calzone. I saw a bloke with it last night. Bloody huge! And the cooks are nice young blokes who’ll happily customize your pie if you ask.
I’m telling you guys, Alleycat’s it 'aint, but its still really very good. And less than 10 minute’s walk from my house, which is even better. They also have soup (creamy pumpkin and minestrone when I was there) and homemade dessert (sticky gooey chocolate cake of some kind). Poagao pronounced it good and he knows about these things.
There’s some more pics on my flickr account, all just cellphone camera shots I’m afraid, but good enough to give you the idea.
That would be on the east side of the river?
Up by People’s Cafe or something?
If you are driving or traveling by metro it is on the same side of the river. It is on the side with all the games not the side with the outdoor restaurants. (It is on the side of the bridge with the 7-11). Walk to almost the end of the line of shops just past the public toilets. You really can’t miss it as they have seating outside with a “pizza bar” sign as you approach.
Ah, thanks Electronisk. I didn’t post their day off because I couldn’t remember if it was Monday or Tuesday. I WAS going to edit the OP and include it.
Sorry!
I’ll buy you a Stella next time you go if we can hook up.

I went to this place this afternoon, and it was pretty good.
A basic cheese/salami/chili pizza cost me 200, +100 for pizza bread, soup, salad, coffee and desert.
A nice view over the river too, and perfect weather for the patio.
This is a fantastic little date place.
And no service charge.
The pizzas here (stone oven) are excellent and sitting in Bitan with a cold brew always good. The same ownership as the nice little Shabu Shabu opposite the curry man at the bridge entrance- nice people, so it pains me to say look out for the pasta shrimp. We were down with severe sickness after that. Stick with the pizza nd the view I say (and of course, a beer)
Really? I liked that shabu shabu place. It’s moving to further along the street. They balked at the 150k per month rent, apparently. Can’t say I blame them.
That bustling little street is fucked, by the way. Cops have moved all the vendors off the street, so they can only trade if they have a shopfront. Thank god Athula can move inside, so he’ll still be there.
Stupid fuckers. Kill off any local colour to “make the street safer” but continue to allow the boy racers to scream along there in their ricers on their way for a swift one off the wrist from their girlfriend in the carpark.
