…sorry
Continue living hedonistically, reduce self-restraint, and have a blast.
Having the courage to leave the job that’s making me miserable
Just do it.

My resolution is to grab an opportunity that comes my way with both hands.
No overthinking it.
Actually achieved 2025’s, which was to lose a lot of weight (40 lbs) and (mostly) give up drinking. It’s the first time I’ve kept my resolutions.
For 2026, it’s to finally learn Mandarin after being here for a decade. This is bloody embarrassing and I still have the vocabulary of a brain damaged toddler.
Mine is to at least exercise twice a week. I bought my kid a pilates ring from Decathlon so she can pretend she is doing ringfit with me. I went through 3 stages with her today. Worked out pretty well.
Is there a way to alert us on December 31 2025 so we can all see who stuck with it?

And only proudly let it rip like the god of thunder striking down a partridge a la Randy Johnson?
I might only last a day or two on this resolution. ![]()
Not really. Add a reminder to your cell phone calendar?
In what ways?

Continue living but not quite so hedonistically, induce some minimal self-restraint, and still have a blast.
And not be captured on some Youtube video doing something video worthy that apparently only foreigners do (this is always my resolution).
a) Swim goals
Beat my all-time swim pr of 25:56 for 1500m. I’m getting very close to old man territory, so this will be a huge accomplishment if I reach this goal.
On the way to that goal, get under 26 minutes with my swim partner (alternating 250m with him).
b) Faith goals
Read through the Old Testament (my reading thus far has been very patchy, and I’ve never made it all the way through the Old Testament).
Agree to serve with a glad heart and no grumbling when asked to do so by my pastor. Step out of my comfort zone if I’m asked to do something major (like translate for a guest preacher).
c) Drinking goals
Drink less
I’ve already reduced my drinking to twice a week, and I’ve kept to this rule faithfully. But I still sometimes go into binge territory. This is something I want to change. Stop at 2-3 drinks. Sip and enjoy the ride.
To put words to objects better; to not waste time putting words to things that defy objectification and just enjoy them.
