Hey, I haven’t done that for at least 25 years.
I had a Betamax. There was a certain point in the 80s when people were literally giving them away, but I found the quality and reliability superior to VHS. I only ever used mine to record stuff off the TV, so it didn’t bother me that there were no movies available in Betamax format.
In engineering terms, those beasts were an absolute work of art. I’m amazed they actually got the tape transport, spinning read/write head, and entirely-analog signal processing to actually work, while still selling the things at consumer prices.
You should have asked when we actually cleaned a blackboard.
