How long has it been since you sat on a bench with a bag of Poco Snacks and a bottle of Marble Soda?

Dang, I’ve been LAYed, man, LAYed and not in good way.

My brain has been totally wiped an so has my ability to search the net.

I am having strange visions that I once sat at the side of the road enjoying a variety of snacks and maybe cookies by a company called Poco. But now I’m having doubts. Am I a variant?
First there was Poco, then there were Poco-Lays and now Poco who?
Give me some photos of the Poco I enjoyed. Save my sanity.

I had one of those (a knock-off copy, not the original). They are surprisingly addictive.

I know, right? That was the amazing thing. You’d think it would be boring cause it was such a simple concept and game

Kids today:

Describe this, please. Inquiring palates want to know.

Another thing: It’s been over TEN FREAKING YEARS since I had a mongolian BBQ. I don’t know any that exists in Taipei anymore, and no idea if it will even be around after the pandemic.

When I was in the states, there was a place called Buffet King in Austin, it had a decent mongolian bbq. Wasn’t too bad in price too. Worth the 1.5 hour bus rides anyways (because of America’s crap public transportation system).

I had that abut 4-5 years ago on Nanjing East Road right across the street from XinShen Park. It seems like they have moved over to the neighboring Ji Lin Rd.

Well, is it still there, and will it still be there when we come out of lockdown?

I feel confident about Taiwanese ingenuity, resilience and rebelliousness.

I was here during the 24/7 political drumming and all the related political upheaval

As soon as it will be allowed or even if it is not allowed after common Sense reasonable time has passed you
you will see pop up hot pot places and barbecues.
Who remembers walking on a treacherous (for me, I’m not a mountain lover) trail reaching a rest stop in the middle of nowhere only to see a small pop up restaurant and souvenir table.
Many of you didn’t like it. Maybe the vendors went too far, but in general… that’s ingenuity.
Many of these places are family run so there’s really no other job to go to.
Let’s hope they come back and let’s support them.

America used to be like this, at least before the cold war anyhow. Then various corps got started who ended up shutting down a majority of family businesses. So you have to be the most innovative or have the most cornered market to even be a SME in the states. Sure employers may not be as bad or abusive as Taiwan, but you almost can’t start a SME there (at least ones that can provide more than 50 dollars a month) unless you had an outstanding business plan and the means to follow through.

Mmmm. How long has it been since you last had sex?

Aah, nostalgia. Neuralgia. Viagra.

Simpler, happier times. At least we knew who the bad guys were, and we knew that we’d all be incinerated. These days it’s hard to tell who’s out to get us and what they’re trying to do to us.

You know that’s what got taiwan into this covid mess.

When was the last time you bought a newspaper? For me it’s like 10 years if not more.

I think it was 3 (maybe 4) years ago. I was on a bike trip from Taipei to Kaohsiung and it started to down pour. Everything was wet and we stopped in a 7-11 to dry off. My friend has an ingenious idea (that some pros actually use) is to buy newspaper to soak up the water in our shoes.

I am so glad I read that through to the end.

What else could the newspaper have been used for? Spanking?
