Obesity, health, doctors, and poverty

Technically, she’s massively obese.

I guess “morbidly” isn’t PC these days

But more medically accurate. :slightly_smiling_face:

Also, affectively accurate. For me, at least

She doesn’t look morbidly obese to me.

A bit down on “skinny hoes”. I’m assuming that’s not gardening tools

I’m not a medical expert, but it looks like future health issues. Whether she’s morbidly obese depends upon the timeframe of morbidity.

I think she’s got a couple of decades left in her. Possibly with some physical discomfort

Maybe. I’m sure she’s already having metabolic issues…possibly cardiovascular issues. I have no doubt her doctor’s already had some stern talks with her…unless she’s seeing Michael Jackson’s doctor, of course…

Doctor’s aren’t allowed to.

Cardiovascular isn’t so bad, IMO. Cardiac arrest.

All the skin issues would be my issue.

Yes they are.

You are predictable. This is not a bad thing, by the way

When’s the last time you’ve been to a doctor in the US? Living in Taiwan might have skewed your perspective a bit. Just had a doctor tell me to lose some weight so saying they can’t is ya know…BS

Is that a UK thing? In the U.S. doctors will definitely give the non-body positive talk to obese patients.

I’ll join in then for your own good, lose some weight. The obese need to.

I’ve never been to a doctor in the US. For the sake of their patients I hope doctors aren’t restricted from using the word obesity.

I’ve never heard of a doctor not being able to use the word obesity. Obesity is a problem in the US as many know and openly covered in the news and a common conversation with the doctor.

I was only slightly above a normal BMI and the doctor called it out. The US is still a diet obsessed culture.

Google ‘doctors can’t call out patients for being obese’.

BMI of 40 plus. She is morbidly obese. Although the new term is class three obese apparently

She doesn’t look that bad to me, but if the medical experts say she’s morbid who am I to argue.
