The days of the government working on his side to help him steal money are over. What a loser! Time for him to become a fugitive and run away to his beloved PRC where stealing and not paying taxes and the government helping you to do it is still encouraged!
Good job, his days are over and no wonder he is in the U.S right now instead of being in Taiwan. Tell him to come back and PAY UP!!
How could we allowed this person to become a presidential candidate is beyond me. According to the law he wasn’t even suppose to be allowed to leave the coutry until he sort out these legal issues.
Bet your won’t see the Pan-Blue Apologists posting on this thread!
Of course we will - they will have some pre-prepared-no-individual-thought-process-involved-Borg-like response… something to do with persecution of hard working businessmen fighting to look after their family (read - buying more property and Euro sports cars)…
C’mon ac, dont disappoint.
So that’s why he can’t afford to put a new door on his mother’s shithouse. All the money is safely stashed in America where those nasty pan-greens can’t get at it.
It aint easy being green, hang on… blue.
My distaste for the KMT is tempered only by my hatred of the DPP and the traitors at the TSU. I cannot forget that the present Taiwan situation originated from the craven KMT retreat to Taiwan and hiding behind the skirts of the Americans instead of simply surrendering.
Still there is no mention of the article of Soong even being convicted yet, all it states is that the court has yet to decide. I thought all you Taidu lackeys were big on human rights and innocent until proven guilty.
p.s. It appears Soong didn’t learn very much from his predecessors, he of all people should have learned how to hide assets from his old boss Lee Teng Hui.
AWOl - I bow to your greater foresight and knowledge ![]()
(sound of thundering hooves) Here they come… :help: :loco:

Theres the first one… next?

Look, I think we all know the outcome of this little exercise will just mean little Jimmy (somehow - and AGAIN) gets off the hook. It would be nice if justice were served, but alas, this is Taiwan, and criminals of his stature seem to be rewarded rather than punished.
I remember the instance where the prosecutor had to go to Soong’s house just to interview him because he refuse to go to the prosecuter’s office after the money scandal broke out during the 2000 election. He acted like he is bigger than the president.
So Soong has to pay NT 90 million in unpaid taxes or do six months in the slammer. I wonder which one he’ll choose.
NT90 mill must be pocket change to Soong.
It depends on which slammer.
My friend and I did a quickie cost benefit calculation of white collar crime, pretending we were say, Andrew Fastow and his ilk etc. Based on the analysis, I wouldn’t hesitate a millisecond to do the crime for the time. There is absolutely no economic, personal disincentive when it comes to these types of crimes. It pays to be bad.
What do you know about the KMT, DPP or TSU? You weren’t alive when the KMT ruled the mainland (or at least part of it). The CCP has just as much or more blood splattered on its history. While they were busy plunging the mainland into three decades of starvation, the KMT, whether by accident or intention, managed to build a pretty solid economy on Taiwan. Members of my wife’s family died at the hands of communists for “offenses” as petty as catching their own fish instead of relying on the village canteen. If you were to ask them, they would say that their dislike for the KMT, DPP or TSU is tempered by their burning hatred and distrust of the CCP.
The TSU are traitors? Hotheads perhaps, but traitors to what?
And I can’t forget that if the USSR hadn’t backed the CCP against the KMT and the US with the A-bomb, Cash My Check probably would have gone a long way toward knockning over the communist government during the Korean War, when they were most vulnerable. The PRC was just as much Moscow’s bitch as the ROC was Washington’s.
Fair enough. But let me ask you: based on what you know, do you think he’s guilty?
p.s. It appears Soong didn’t learn very much from his predecessors, he of all people should have learned how to hide assets from his old boss Lee Teng Hui.
Can’t argue with that.
Wow, perhaps you should start your own political party then… I’ll vote for you as long as you declare Taiwan an independent nation.

um so whats traitorous about a group of taiwanese wanting an independent taiwanese republic exactly? and the present taiwan situation? what, as opposed to the fucked up one over the strait? at least this shows our leaders are to some extent accountable…

In the USA you mean? Last I heard Chinese citizens did not have the right to form political parties, and as a foreigner who is denied entry to Taiwan he’s going to have a hard time starting one here. Maybe he could become an overseas member of PFP, but again CCP may have issues with that.
And I would add that unlike the CCP or KMT, the DPP’s and TSU’s efforts to achieve their aims have been bloodless. I guess that doesn’t mean a flick to cmdjing or ac_dropout, though. It seems that to them, any means are acceptable for achieving the ends of their one-China ideology. A country that is defined by such ideology is hardly worth killing or dying for. On the contrary, any thinking person should be ashamed of being a citizen of such a country. Unfortunately, I don’t see the DPP or TSU giving Taiwanese people much to be proud of either.
The KMT had little hope of actually toppeling the CCP. It wasn’t Soviet assistance that won the civil war for the communists, but plain old KMT incompetance. As for the Sino-Soviet relationship, apparently you missed the whole sin-soviet split towards the end of the 50’s. I can’t say I fault you for your ignorance, afterall many American policy makers weren’t aware of it for a while either. But at least they managed to catch on to the fact towards the 70’s. Anyways, had the Nationalists managed to actually succeed in overthrowing the CCP and restablishing the Republic of China, all it would mean for Taiwan is that it would be Chinese territory in not only name but fact. Call the PRC irridentist and imperialist all you want, but all the facts point to the contrary that foreign policy by the CCP has always been pragmatic. The RoC raised numerous stinks when the CCP ratified the independence of Mongolia(what was left of it) and other territorial issues such as the CCP endeavour to exchange claims of Arunachal Pradesh for Aksai Chin.
I don’t know enough of the facts behind the story to come to any relevant conclusion. It seems suspicious yes, but suspicion alone is not proof of guilt. As to simple intuition, I think he probably is guilty of something, corrupt politicians are hardly uncommon.
