Where? I have yet to see an Irish menu here. Or australian. There are few and far between with canadian, a few more german. Its usually just lumped into “american”. At least canadian food is american. But most of north american foods are european. The real american foods include elk, deer, and everything latino. The only authentic american food i have seen here is central/south american.
A full Irish breakfast is outstanding.
Irish food in general is great. Sometimes outstanding. The catch? It needs fresh produce from Ireland otherwise how can you call it Irish food? Just like my fave dishes from Taiwan…
Its all depends on the quality and freshness of the raw ingredients. For instance the produce that is avaialble in a typical Irish supermarket makes Jasons look rubbish but at half the price.
Any examples you can share for us to google? I am pleasantly ignorant about what an irish meal would even mean and quite interested to know what authentic would be ![]()
Authentic means authentic ingredients . That means the awesome seafood from ireland such as crabs, lobsters, trout, salmon, scallops, haddock, sole, mackerel etc , cheese and dairy, beef, wholemeal bread , oats, veg, berries and fruit.
Its just really high quality fresh food stuffs to start with that makes the difference. After that cook it or bake it anway you like. Seriously the food in Ireland makes a lot of food in other places taste like fake plastic.
Having lived in all of these countries, i have to say one major difference is the absence of flavors and textures in the Taiwanese food. Soggy fried fish, mushy vegetables, the food here is more like I’d expect English food to be, rather than the food I ate in China and Thailand
They cater to local tastes ![]()
I can’t stand Taiwanese food. Everything is brown and gray and has crap seasoning. And the overuse of anise. ![]()
I’d rather eat an Oreo “pizza” from Pizza Hut.
Of course this thread becomes yet another thread complaining about Taiwanese food.
We are a lot of expats who have lived many places, now in Taiwan, posting on a food thread. If someone hadn’t lumped Taiwanese food in with better cuisines, it could have been avoided.
The food in Saudi Arabia was also excellent, but I don’t see that as an option here…
to be fair you can get amazing pizza and coffee in Taiwan!
This board isn’t exactly known for sophisticated taste buds.
Lol, where’s your sophistication? What kind of barbarians complain about oreos on pizza!?
The food in Sicily was shit. Pizza, shit. Ice cream, shit. Pasta, shit. Coffee, double shit. Arrancini, mostly shit.
Had a nice McDonalds at the airport as I left.
Pineapple Oreo pizza is my absolute fav!
With extra anise!
And Japanese fish flakes to properly ruin it.
My view of Italian food has changed drastically now that I understand where to eat and what to eat when I’m there. I wasn’t impressed until i was shown where to go and where to avoid, especially tourist restaurants.
I hear that. Ending up cooking for myself most of the time.
haha, not sure what people from think (also depends of what part of the nation)
