Quote of the day

“They know they are lying. We know they are lying. They know that we know they are lying. Yet they still lie.”

– Alexander Solzhenitsyn

That pretty much sums up what happens when a small group of people holds total power over others, also a perfect description of China.

Taipei Times comments!

Thomas Reed, Speaker of the House in the 1890s, when asked what the biggest problem facing the American people was:
“How to dodge a bicycle.”

“Ideas that require people to reorganize their picture of the world provoke hostility.”

–James Gleick

“No shit.”

–Dr. Milker

“Anyone who thinks they can save the world is both wrong and dangerous.”

–Peter Matthiessen

Wonder what she would have thought about people who don’t discuss anything at all, but just sit there with their mouths hanging open and scrolling through page after page of shite on Facebook, occasionally pressing ‘like’.

These are the boddhisatvas.

I guess she didn’t factor in that future 4th level. :grinning: Facebook has always been complete poison to me.

Even when friends of mine do this, start gossiping about other people, or even quasi gossiping about stuff other people say that has no actual impact on their life, I have an overwhelming urge to scan for exits. Unless for comedy reasons, it’s such a waste of breath and time.

I think the quote is more about what people talk about, and think about in daily life. It’s a comment on the negative petty/gossipy versus bigger picture stuff.

speaking of the Objectivity and Bias in Media thread…
