Quotes/comments from and about Trump and his gang for Trump 2.0

As Americans enter Trump 2.0 lots of interesting news across a wide variety of topics. Below I post a few quotes or comments I noticed so far…

Trump about China: “I don’t even know they are member of BRICS…They want to undermine the dollar.”

Trump about chip industry: “Taiwan took our chip business away. We had Intel. We had these great companies that did so well. It was taken from us. And we want that business back. We want it back in the United States. If they don’t bring it back we’re not going to be very happy.” [Note: I am not sure who is “they”]

Trump talking to World Economic Forum: If you don’t make your product in America which is your perogative then very simply you will have to pay a tariff, differing amounts, but a tariff which will direct billions and even trillions of dollars into our treasury to strengthen our economy and pay down debt.

Trump talking to World Economic Forum: “I have promised to eliminate 10 old regulations for every new regulation, which will soon put many thousands of dollars back in the pockets of American families.” [Note: in his last term he said would eliminate two regulations for every new regulation.]

Missouri Attorney General filed lawsuit against Starbucks: The lawsuit claims that “since 2020, Starbucks’ workforce has become more female and less white” and that Starbucks’ hiring practices are creating higher prices and longer waits.

Representative Anna Paulina Luna regarding her role in Kennedy assassination review: “I’m looking to actually bring in some of the attending physicians at the initial assassination. Then also people that had been on the various commissions looking into it, like the Warren Commission looking into the initial assassination,” she said. [Note: members of the Warren Commission are all dead]

Don Trump Jr.: “They need to go back to work and quit sponging off of the American taxpaper.” [Note: My best recollection of what I saw him say regarding federal workers. He said this while at the GOP retreat hosting by Trump in Florida.]

Trump: “American banks are not allowed to do business in Canada.”

Trump on aid to Gaza: “We identified and stopped $50 million being sent to Gaza to buy condoms for Hamas. They used them as a method of making bombs. How about that?” [Later updated to say $100 million.]

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt discussing blocked AP News from press briefing due to their use of the term “Gulf of Mexico”: “I was very up front in my briefing on Day One that if we feel that there are lies being pushed by outlets in this room, we are going to hold those lies accountable.”

Not just about Trump

“A great empire and little minds go ill together” - Edmund Burke

The best way to avoid arguing with emotion morons is provide an actual reference for each example. Force people to argue on fact, not opinion. Otherwise they will cry until the thread gets dumped.

The emotional immaturity on either side is alarmingly pathetic.

The round about explanations are a waste of time. Take 1 minute now to reference to avoid a whirlwind of explaining simple shit to children for days on end. #efficiency. The DOGE people should appreciate this logic :hugs:

first and best! :joy:

Trump: “He who saves his country does not violate any laws.”

National Nuclear Security Administration official: “The termination letters for some NNSA probationary employees are being rescinded, but we do not have a good way to get in touch with those personnel.”****

I’m not sure that providing references helps very much. One of the problems with the internet is that everyone can now come up with citations to support whatever facts they want to believe in. AI is likely to make this even worse. We’re living in a post-facts world beyond any shared truths or values.

That’s exactly why a reference to the original source is so important. So people cannot whine and bitch about something being real or not if there is an actual source to where the person actually said/wrote/or did something. Or a law is in fact written and true. Or etc. Otherwise people argue u til the end of time rather than just checking the source, which saves everybody a boat load of time.

It is a standard the public needs to start getting used to :hugs: science has long done this, politics really needs to start doing this as SOP.

Trump to governor of Maine: “Well, I’m – we are the federal law,”

He got just so close to saying it. We all should really admire his restraint. In time, in time. :relieved:
