I’m just going to sit back and recommend it.” [This week]

Elon Musk regarding the email sent to federal employees entitled "What did you do last week?': “Failure to respond will be taken as resignation.”

Pete Hegseth, Secretary of Defense, regarding the hiring of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs: “Was it because of his skin color? Or his skill” We’ll never know, but always doubt which on its face value seems unfair to CQ. But since he has made the race card one of his biggest calling cards, it doesn’t really much matter." [Note: replacement Dan Caine does not meet the traditional prerequisites for role of Joint Chiefs Chairman, having typically required experience as a combatant commander or service chief. A 1986 law allows the president to waive these requirements.]

Trump regarding the above…trying to imply the email is a way to find out who is working for the government: “Well, it’s somewhat voluntary, but it’s also if you don’t answer I guess you get fired. If they’re there and they’re working, they’re able to say they did five things during work, and that means they’re working and they’re with us, and they have no further obligation. If they’re not, it could be there’s no such person. It could be that the person’s no longer working.”

Email send to USAID staff regarding their firing: “This Thursday and Friday ONLY—on February 27 and 28, 2025 USAID staff will have one opportunity to retrieve their personal belongings. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor-Greene (assigned to House Committee on Oversight and Accountability) regarding firing of federal workers: “The bureaucracy is not a business. Those are not real jobs producing federal revenue, by the way. They’re consuming taxpayer dollars. Those jobs are paid for by the American tax people, who work real jobs, earn real income, pay federal taxes, and then pay these federal employees. Federal employees do not deserve their jobs. Federal employees do not deserve their paychecks. And these are jobs that can be fired at will.” [Note: Taylor is a federal employee]

Trump speaking of Elon Musk’s examination of Social Security records: “We have millions and millions of people over 100 years old. Everybody knows that’s not so. We have a very corrupt country, very corrupt country, and it’s a sad thing to say, but we’re figuring it out…If you take all of those numbers off, because they’re obviously fraudulent or incompetent, but if you take all of those millions of people off of Social Security, all of a sudden we have a very powerful Social Security with people that are 80 and 70 and 90 but not 200.”

Putin discussing Trump’s discussions with European leaders: “But I assure you, Trump, with his character and his determination, will restore order there pretty quickly. And all of them – mark my words, this will happen soon – will stand at their master’s feet and wag their tails obediently. Everything will fall into place.”

Trump regarding the USMCA (Mexico/US trade agreement): “I look at some of these agreements, I’d read them at night, and I’d say, ‘Who would ever sign a thing like this?’ So the tariffs will go forward, yes, and we’re gonna make up a lot of territory. All we want is reciprocal. We want reciprocity.” [Note: The USMCA is Trump’s negotiated, modified version of the North American Free Trade Agreement]

You’re at the highest level in this country’s office and you refuse to wear a suit. Just want to see if – do you own a suit? You get fired when you don’t show up to work. You get fired when you are taking taxpayer dollars, and you’re not working for the federal government, and you are double dipping. FBI director Kash Patel attempting to downplay the affect of Russian forces in Ukraine: “They’re going into the Ukraine, they’re not going throughout the Ukraine. Trump speaking to Congress: “The days of rule by unelected bureaucrats are over." [Note: I believe he is not referring to firing Musk]

Trump administration Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick: “Tariffs do not, do not, do not create inflation! Printing money creates inflation. You have a balanced budget, there can’t be inflation. This doesn’t mean one product can’t be more expensive and one product can’t be less expensive. But China, I’ll give you an example, China has the highest tariffs in the world. In the world. Everything gets tariffed in China. And they don’t have inflation, in fact they have deflation. India, the second highest tariffs in the world, they don’t have inflation. So this concept is just people whining and complaining and not being truthful. The fact is, we need to protect America.” [Note: May be inaccurate to claim no inflation in India and China]

Britain and France have various military actions in recent past, including direction support of America.]

Now I’m not saying everyone in these town halls that you’ve seen on television were not from the local area, but look, there are people who do this as a profession. They’re professional protesters. So why would we give them a forum to do that right now?”

U.S. Education Secretary Linda McMahon message to her staff hinting at the direction of Trump to close Department of Education: “This is our opportunity to perform one final, unforgettable public service to future generations of students. I hope you will join me in ensuring that when our final mission is complete we will all be able to say that we left American education freer, stronger and with more hope for the future. Spoke to the majors today, all three, the top people, and they’re so excited. In fact, already numerous car companies have announced that they will be building massive automobile plants in America, with Honda just announcing a new plant in Indiana, one of the largest anywhere in the world. Seemingly in retribution for Maine’s Governor fighting with Trump a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Health and Human Services said that the Social Security Administration canceled contracts with Maine’s vital statistics program that support Social Security’s electronic “enumeration at birth” program: THURSDAY – “As a result of SSA’s contract termination, effective immediately, Maine hospitals are no longer able to enroll newborns into Social Security at the time of birth so parents will now need to visit their local Social Security office to apply in-person for their child’s Social Security Number.” FRIDAY – Acting Social Security Commissioner Leland Dudek: “In retrospect, I realize that ending these contracts created an undue burden on the people of Maine, which was not the intent. For that, I apologize and have directed that both contracts be immediately reinstated.”

Trump discussing Musk’s role in cutting budgets with cabinet heads: “If they can cut, it’s better. And if they don’t cut, then Elon will do the cutting.”

Representative Andy Barr of Kentucky trying to explain that DOGE is not recommending mass firings of federal employees…problems are caused by agencies’ actions trying to hinder DOGE’s efforts: “The point that he was making is that DOGE had not made recommendations for across-the-board cuts of all probationary employees at every agency. But the agencies had implemented it improperly through either incompetence or in a handful of cases actual malicious efforts to sabotage and create a public relations problem for DOGE.”

Representative. Tim Burchett of Tennessee responding to question…“If he says the things that DOGE has found and the savings they found, how do you verify that other than the fact that it’s the word of Elon Musk?”: “They document it.” There is a, um, paper trail and a computer. It’s computer-generated. I have a 17-year-old daughter that shows me how stupid I am with my computer every day. But he had another gentleman there with him who verified everything that he said. And we are actually delving into all that, and I don’t want to disclose too much of it because that means that most of the time that those folks will try to close up that paper trail. But it’s very well documented, and I’m very confident in what’s going on. You have to wonder, is that just a computer glitch? So there’s quite a lot there, and I think my biggest fear is that we can stay focused. There’s just so much corruption, and it goes so deep."

Canadians’ taxes will be very substantially reduced, they will be more secure, militarily and otherwise, than ever before, there would no longer be a Northern Border problem. The artificial line of separation drawn many years ago will finally disappear. O Canada, the national anthem, will continue to play, but now representing a GREAT and POWERFUL STATE within the greatest Nation the World has ever seen!”
