âThat girl thinks sheâs the queen of the neighbourhood - Iâve got news for you: SHE IS!â
My proudest moment was when Kat Bjelland walked up to me in a bar and said she liked my dress and gave me a backstage pass! :discodance:
Sheâs reading from âDirty Weekendâ by Helen Zahavi, which is coolio revenge fantasy thing. It was a nineties thing, and bits often read out at these kind of gigs. Bella, the main character is threatened and stalked by this nutter and she just snaps and then over the course of a weekend, she brutally murders every man who says or does anything she doesnât like. On Monday, she gets up and goes back to her typing job, cleansed.
Queercore! âDonât need your atti-fucking-tude, boy. Donât need your protection, donât need your dick to fuck.â
Not everyoneâs cup of tea, but SO life affirming and fab if you were a teenaged girl at that time. There doesnât seem to be that kind of ethic /aesthetic, nowadays, which is a shame.
