The US went to Iraq twice (and Afghanistan) to contain China.
The CCP had well established relations with Saddam whom they used by for Oil and sold absurd amounts of military weapons to. If I remember correctly, it was one of the largest purchases in history, around 3000 Chinese Tanks for the invasion of Iran.
US was aware that China was making moves in Iraq via Saddam, they called them out big time, making for quick invasive maneuvers to cut off Saddam’s (and China’s) expansive prospects. This was part of a series of back and forth heavy-hitting between US and China following the 89 Tiananmen Massacre (which China blamed on US interference).
Yes - not just stop oil to China, but to stop China from making money off massive arms sales in the Middle East. You have to remember, for a period China was relying on Arms Sales as a primary source of CCP income.
Actually it was a very good plan until China and Russia countered with heavy destabilization in Eastern Europe, exploiting pre-existing tensions to instigate unrest and genocide in an effort to suspend NATO expansion. China particularly wanted to strain US coverage - get them pre-occupied with spinning too many plates in the west and keep them out of Asia. Of course it failed, since US parked carrier strike groups in the Taiwan Strait while successfully handling the crisis in Europe via NATO.
Whether it be Oil or Arms Sales, the US successfully cut at least half of China’s prospects and poisoned their strategic 1997 Lease for which China obtained Iraqi Oil Field development rights. Whatever it be, US delayed China’s access for decades. Of course China found other ways around this, but imagine had the US made it easier for China we may have been in a much worse position today.
So instead to boost CCP income, Washington decided to push for China entry into the WTO, which was the catalyst for the China boom? There was no great push from member states outside of the US.
That’s truly shocking. It would be so much better for the pro choice folks if they just grew up, taught girls in school what getting pregnant takes, and what it looks like when you are pregnant, so that they can take appropriate action, or make appropriate decisions before their cell cluster, you know, grows arms and legs that this guy tears off for a living. fucking hell
Give him credit, he stopped after his 1200th abortion. Swapped the hippocratic oath for a hypocritical one.
Fast forward through a bunch of riots and eventually this will be granted as another federal holiday, sandwiched between ‘we all love The Simpsons Day,’ and ‘liquid cheese day.’
I think the polls show that a majority of folks want abortion to stay, but within bloody reason. Pulling hand sized babies to pieces isn’t going to change the mind of many pro-lifers. We need a Know Your Body Better campaign, not a whoospie poopsie later date dash to the abortionist.
Gotta love the absolute stupidity of the American left.
Sure. When a bill mandating child support starting at conception was introduced by a Democrat legislator in Oklahoma, the GOP signed right up. Of course, the bill was withdrawn.
That’s not what the constitution said. There’s nothing wrong with that formulation, but we might want to secure the border and shore up some laws first to prevent abuse.
Insurance companies can provide insurance on what they want to, right?
Semantic bickering aside, it does seem like a really good idea to me. It might even discourage some abortions: apparently 53% of them involve some kind of life crisis, and “lost my job” is a major one. Women literally can’t afford their babies. I wonder if the bill’s chances would be better now.
Are you suggesting Gain is the left? If so, hardly. I had a couple beers with some lefty women yesterday. They want pretty much what I want, a stop to the name calling for one.
