Rush Limbaugh: The man who's always Right

One knowledgeable conservative who doesn’t believe Powell’s decision was all about race.
In a surprising rebuff of an old friend, former White House chief of Staff Kenneth Duberstein said today he was abandoning his support of John McCain and instead would back Barack Obama for president.

Duberstein, who worked for President Ronald Reagan, told CNN’s Fareed Zakaria that his vote was influenced by another good friend, former Secretary of State Colin L. Powell.

“Well let’s put it this way – I think Colin Powell’s decision is in fact the Good Housekeeping seal of approval on Barack Obama,” Duberstein said. Powell was national security advisor to Reagan when Duberstein’ was the President’s chief of staff. . . . Campaign finance records show that Duberstein contributed $2,300 to McCain’s campaign in January. He currently runs one of the biggest lobbying firms in Washington.

Duberstein was also one of the first people McCain contacted when he began considering his first run for the presidency in 2000, according to news accounts at the time. “Duberstein offered contacts (his corporate clients include Goldman Sachs and General Motors) as well as sage advice. He began to quietly expose McCain to corporate bigwigs (and potential campaign donors), hosting a breakfast for 25 business leaders with Henry Kissinger in New York,” Newsweek reported.
“convert Fred Smith” should not be used in the same sentence.

Who even cares about this tired fat junkie loser Rush Limbaugh. If he had such great influence, why did the Republicans just get handed their ass in a sling in the last election? :roflmao:

Because Oprah has more viewers than Rush?

Humorous

People commenting on someone who they have never listened or read. Sort of like saying you know a book because you read the back of it.

Considering how regularly quoted out of context he is(i.e. Obama’s Spanish ad, DBM) I’d strongly suggest you check the full quote and context in which it was said.

Fair enough, provide us with the context that explains his statements and we’ll be happy to consider them, but which quote are you referring to?

This one:

or this one:

You may be right. It is theoretically possible he may not be full of shit, but you’ll need to convince us.

I’ve listened to Limbaugh’s show many times. Even in context, he’s still absolutely full of excrement. The man is a lying, racist turd.

Somewhat fair MT, lets start with the first one, We know Michael J Fox went off his meds to look worse and that was his intention. The Second one is only listed on Left wing blogs and huffington post, not known for being fair to Rush. The third one is a running joke on the program. Mmmm, Rush’s program directer is black and was the Official Obama Criticizer. Was that racist what Snerdley said? So I have to say that 4th and 5th are no good, especially since a big part of Rush’s style is that people judge others on their ability rather than the color of their skin.

The 6th I’ve actually read, that one was on how public schools were failing us I believe and graduating students with insufficient proficiency to do Math, read or write properly. The quote makes more sense, if you had read the whole spiel.

I’m not sure the forest/columbus one, but it is a fact that the US has more land forested today since anytime since the Civil War. Do you really want to argue over that one? Could just be a lack of recall on his part.

The last 2 are harder due to lack of context and the fact that if you google any of these quotes it’s impossible to get anything but hundreds of Leftwing blogs demanding Rush be banned for speaking for uttering such things without the entire spiel he said it in being posted. I actually agree on the last one since 1-I’m a global warming sceptic and 2-the Earth is not fragile. At one time it was quite hot in Siberia and we know the Earth had larger ppm of O2 in the air due to the size of prehistoric insects.

Now MT, maybe I can throw one at you. How do you explain Obama using Rush’s rant on Mexican policy towards immigrants and portraying it as his US stance on immigration and including McCain for good measure. It was even funnier for me since most conservatives disdain McCain, Rush being amongst them.

Sure you do Chris, and I read Hustler for the articles.

If you drive around the rural backwaters of Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky, you too will encounter more Limbaugh than you can stomach. I’ve heard him plenty.

Are you actually defending this sub-human turd? Or just playing Devil’s advocate?

:astonished: “We all know”?

Get on the bandwagon. Here’s a Rush song I like. But I don’t like the video because of a disturbing image of a huge ass.

There’s no reason to make fun of the way the guy looks is there?

Here’s Al Franken, soon to be Senator.

Pretty much sums it up.

Oh really? All fabricated by the “liberal media”? What do you make of the following?

Newsweek article

Time article

New York Times article

Did all of the above sources completely fabricate Rush’s quotes? How can they get away with that? Did he sue them for slander? What happened?
EDIT: Damn, I seriously edited the above post by accident, when I thought I was using the quote function. Oops, sorry. But the portion above was all there in my original post.

Here’s a great quote from Rush recently - shows you what kind of fantasy realm he’s living in:

That cracks me up. Like not only Limbaugh, but every right-wing mouthpiece on American talk-show radio AND on this forum wasn’t talking about those things every chance they got! Have a look at the “Democratic presidential campaign forum” if you don’t believe me!

What’s pissing HIM off is that THIS time their usual smear bullshit DIDN’T WORK! What people WANTED to hear about was what McCain was going to do different from Bush, what he was going to do about the economy other than further de-regulate it and privatize it, whether he was gonna start any more wars, what he was going to do about health care and the environment - and all they got was this SHIT! Again and again and again and again. It wasn’t that they “couldn’t talk about it” - it was that every time they did, it was only hurting THEMSELVES and their cause! And Rush can’t even have the common dignity to own up to the abjectly flawed nature of Rove’s, er, his strategy.

Of course, it wouldn’t bother Rush or any of those other ass-wipes that McCain wouldn’t talk about doing something about those problems, because the fact is, as I have pointed out in other threads, the GOP actually doesn’t WANT him to do anything about them! Or I should say, they actively want him NOT to do anything about them - because A) the only thing the government can do right is wage wars, give out billion-dollar contracts, and determine who are terrorists and incarcerate them indefinitely and B) if we actually had a prosperous country - as we have under just about every Democratic administration since WW2 - there won’t be a nice cheap labor force for them to exploit.

As for you, Okami, I flat-out dare - no, I DOUBLE-dare you to go to conceptualguerilla.com/ and listen to Joseph Liles’ “Limbaugh lie of the day” - if you can stand hearing that bigotted windbag get torn to pieces with logic, reason and hard cold facts, that is. You don’t have to listen to ALL of 'em… just try “Limbaugh, Obama and the race card”, “Limbaugh doubles down” or “Limbaugh’s version of ignorance.” (I won’t even bother making this same challenge to TC, because the result is as guaranteed as the sun coming up tomorrow.)

Now if DON’T have the intellectual courage to spend about ten minutes listening, well, it should tell you something about the strength of your beliefs if you - like certain other GOP defenders on this forum - refuse to carefully examine any arguments or evidence that seems to suggest said beliefs are false. (Much like kungfu “fighters” who have a massive arsenal of excuses why they refuse to test their “martial skills” against MMA fighters.) That’s the advantage conservatives always have over liberals, though - they believe the same thing on Wednesday as they did on Monday - regardless of what happened on Tuesday.

Hmmm, try to reply to you guys intelligently and get the same old flames and name calling. Reminds me of what Harrison Ford’s character said of his boss in the movie, “Blade Runner.”

Michael J. Fox admitted to going off his meds to make himself look worse. That American media chose not to cover it properly is not all that surprising. Sort of like how people think Clinton was impeached because he got a BJ in the Oval Office.

I expected better from you MT. I thought you would at least be interested in hearing the other side with out devolving to demagoguery. I was wrong when instead of intelligent questions or ripostes I get
Rush is a nasty, racist, biggoted turd – and a liar
Do they also have a running joke about a fat, racist, pillpopping turd?
Newsweek, Time and NYT are not liberal? Are not biased? You must be joking. As far as slander, it’s almost impossible to slander or libel a famous person in the US by which a famous person may receive restitution to the harm done to him by a court. Short of Henry Ford, I could name no one else.

Like I said, the ugly women started feminism is a joke. Rush does a lot of tongue in cheek humor. The sort that a lot of PC minded people really wouldn’t get. After what Charlie Gibson and crew did to the Palin interview, show me the whole quote or don’t expect me to buy it. Take a look at the full transcript and the parts bolded that they cut out of the TV presentation.

The US forest service, you mean the people who run the longest road network in the world? Now you will in a blink of an eye tell me that Bush lied, so I’m suppose to take a gov’t bureaucracy’s word on faith? Gulf of Tonkin(sp?), anyone?

Vay:
Obama is a thug politician. Look at what he did to become state senator and then US senator. For state, he invalidated signatures, for the US Senate, he opened the divorce records against the wishes of the people involved. Now you will scream bloody murder about how Bush snooped on Americans, but quiet as a puppy walking on cotton when it’s Joe the plumber getting his private records inspected by Democratic politicians to find some dirt on him.

Man. you sure are stuck in your self-righteousness. Now what happens if I do listen and maybe I find that he’s taken the whole thing out of context. Do you really expect me to believe that a hard core partisan like yourself is going to admit a mistake? It’s right up there with showing liberals that every socialized health care program tried in any country has generated massive deficits and lowered service wherever it is tried. Innovation goes out the window and cost cutting becomes the norm as layer after layer of bureaucracy is added onto the system. Somehow people came to believe that health care was a right for whatever misguided reason and damn the consequences.

Too many folks here taking Rush too seriously. I look at Rush’s website about once every two weeks or so. You need to take what he says with a grain of salt. Think of the Daily Show.
Limbaugh is obviously biased. No argument there. The real joke is people thinking that stuff like CNN is balanced.

Although I enjoy the occasional Rush rant, I have to say most of my listening is pretty liberal. I usually start the day with Tom Ashbrook’s NPR radio program, and the newspaper I spend the most time reading is the UK’s Guardian.

I don’t understand why the supposedly broadminded and “liberal” types dismiss conservative stuff so easily. It’s just another way at looking at the world.

Rush used to offer free audio, but it’s been subscription only for a while. So nowadays you just get to read the transcripts. I think he’s a bit greedy.

…so you won’t even bother listening. And what IF you listen, and find out that, in fact, you’re wrong? Who’s the partisan? I listen to Rush. I occasionally read articles from Fox News, the Heritage Foundation and the American Spectator. If nothing else, I at least like to know my enemies and how they think, instead of creating strawmen of what they believe out of my own imagination. I even gave Bush the benefit of the doubt when he came into office back in 2000 (silly me!) How about you - doing the same for Obama?

Um, yeah. AND he palled around with terrorists. Oh wait - there were also prominent Republicans on that committee with Ayers, that guy who did something when Obama was eight years old, too. Oh, BUT Obama’s not really a US citizen! That’s why he pretended to visit his grandmother right before she died, so he could “deal with” (according to Rush) his “citizenship problem”. What?!? Factcheck.org totally debunked that?!? OOPS. WELL, WHO GIVES A SHIT?!? LET’S KEEP SAYING IT ANYWAY.

Joe who? You mean MAX, the TOOL the McCain campaign re-named “Joe” because he would sound more like Mr. Average, in spite of claiming he made around 200 grand (which not only would’ve had him earning well MORE than the average American - but was also bullshit 'cause he’d never made that much in his life)? The guy who’d been on public assistance, yet railed against the “socialism” Obama and the Democrats again threaten America with? Yeah, I feel awful for him.

PLEASE. Every time I have a dentist’s appointment or go in for my monthly prostate check-up (yes, well, don’t ask), I thank GOD I live in TAIWAN, of all places - as opposed to America. Back in Cali, my sister - who’s out of work thanks to a work-incurred injury - had to recently pay a $10,000 co-payment for having a BUNION surgically removed. My co-payment for my vocal reconstruction surgery here was like a couple hundred.

The thing that terrifies Republicans about “socialized medicine” is that, in spite of all the trepidation that y’al have brain-washed into the American public about it, if and when we they ever get it, they’ll LIKE it and WANNA KEEP IT - just as they have all those other ‘totalitarian impositions on freedom’ the Democrats have introduced since the New Deal, such as, say, unemployment insurance, the minimum wage, social security, medicare, worker safety rules and what have you. Once that happens, all the propaganda in the world will be useless, and there will be no going back to the mess of a situation our medical “system” (or lack of one) is in now. And that is why Republicans will now fight TOOTH and NAIL to make sure Obama can’t actually achieve any kind of health care reform, regardless of how many Americans need and want this change - exactly as they did when Clinton came into office. And they call the Democrats “traitors”!

He did not claim to have made US$ 200,000. How long are you guys going to keep posting this lie?

He said that he was thinking of buying a business that might earn more than US$ 250,000 and that under Obamessiah’s plan he would be subjected to a higher tax rate.

So, you don’t care about government abusing its powers when such powers are directed against those who hold political ideas different from your own? Is that what you are saying?

OKAMI, CAN YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN YOUR POSITION?

Oh really? All fabricated by the “liberal media”? What do you make of the following?

Newsweek article

New York Times article

Did all of the above sources completely fabricate Rush’s quotes? How can they get away with that? Did he sue them for slander? What happened?
I don’t understand. Are you saying that the above quotes attributed to Rush in Time, Newseek and NY Times (and many of the other quotes attributed to him in other major media sources (where they use quotation marks, not their unquoted characterization of his remarks) are actually complete fabricated, and Rush didn’t utter those words at all?

IS that what you’re saying?

If so, no offense intended but you’re completely nuts.

If not, then at least regarding the Abu Ghraib comments, I guess we can agree that Rush basically said stacking naked prisoners in a pile, shitting on them, making them simulate fellatio, putting dog collars on them, photographing their dead bodies with a big thumbs up, etc. was no big deal, people were getting worked up over nothing, the guys were simply having a little fun and letting off steam and shouldn’t be criticized for it. Does that sound like a reasonable position to you?

Oh, boo hoo. A company raking in over US$250,000 in profits will be (gasp!) subjected to a whopping 3% increase in taxes for amounts above that amount, just like it was in the Clinton years!

How my heart aches for the plight of those poor, unfortunate rich people! How can they ever survive the tragedy of not being able to afford that extra bit of gold to plate their Bentleys with…this week at least? :unamused:
