I asked @yanganlun why in the Twitter files did they think in order to keep the larger narrative it was important to lie about what they considered minor truths.

The answer was they think we are too stupid to hold diametrically opposing ideas and still maintain the larger narrative imperative. I’m starting to think they may have a point.

EU - those nasty Russians shall have sanctions (unless it is for enriched uranium). We’ll go to Azerbaijan for energy supplies instead:

And this MEP is spot on in regard to Ukraine now:

You want peace, which is good. What territorial changes (and other changes) would you view as an acceptable peace settlement?

honestly the problem with your arguments @Mick is that it always devolves into something the media said before therefore your own bias against the media has already denied you the ability to critically think about the situation in Ukraine.

It is also my opinion that you have created your own opinion of Ukraine based on Trumps inability to extract dirt from Zelensky on his political opponent. I also noticed that you keep referring back to twitter files so you have already a preconceived notion built in your mind information coming out about Ukraine’s sovereignty, you basically just want to go against the grain because you feel like you have been lied to in the past.

“Ukraine evil because they are championed on the mainstream media thus making it in the wrong because going against ukraine deems me a russian bot”

@cake 's argument is different in the approach that it’s much more simple. Everything that isn’t America is evil. It usually stems from a lack of knowledge and education on the subject matter and often times to me comes across as one of those old school KMTers who believe everything is America’s fault and thus china should annex taiwan so we can live in a better system.

“America evil everything russia does is ok because america evil”

this is what it honestly sounds like to me.

I think you’re way off base there, going by my discussions with Mick on the question at the time of the impeachment. I remember Mick’s opinion at that time that Trump was trying to investigate corruption. He had good knowledge of the related events that obviously predated Trump’s actions.

No this is in your mind, a binary good/bad or right/wrong construct, you are forever battling with the forces of good in Lord of the rings vs the evil Mordor forces. Life is not like that. Reality is messy.

The top line is Russia is the aggressors and need to be condemned, that doesn’t mean we get to sweep anything inconvenient we don’t like under the rug and pretend they don’t exist, the fact some ugly truths may exist doesn’t change the fact that Putin is still the bad guy, it just grinds my gears that people post here pretending some of the ugly stuff is a fiction when it’s well documented fact. To me this is just some sort of stupid rhetorical rhetoric.

Anyway, back to what’s going on in Ukraine, no one is looking for negotiations, which is a shame, until that happens they won’t be able to bring this thing to an end. IMO.

Right, there are still questions that need answers to. Eventually we might get to them.

yeah reality is china and russia want to carve out a new shift of power of what we have now. Thank god NATO and the west have been united in stopping dictators from spreading their bullshit.

Russia is looking for negotiations with its good authoritarian mate China brokering the negotiations and mentioning nothing about withdrawing troops from sovereign Ukraine. See the problem.

Yeah man my homeland isnt even in NATO but I’m a massive fan of NATO. The only thing holding them back.

China is maneuvering for a place in negotiations, Russia isn’t interested in negotiations yet.

Putin said he was open to negotiations.

He’s not, whatever they intend to do, they haven’t yet finished doing and when they have no negotiations will be done with the “west” negotiations will be done through a party like China or not at all.

Yeah but that is what he said.

Yeah well, I recall some promises about NATO not expanding to the east either and laughing about how anyone would take that seriously if it was word of mouth and not written in down in a treaty.
