taking the risk of infuriating forum members, pineappcakes arent that good… i bought them in the past and it wasnt a hit with my family and friends, they thought i brought them a dry cookie with cheap jam inside…
Taiwan is not known for its pastries, i wont buy that again.
A t-shirt from the market with misspelt English words and phrases that don’t make sense. Or, likely from the same store, a t-shirt with something rude written on it–often worn by grannies who don’t know what it says but bought it because its only $100NT or by little kids whose parents don’t know what it says but bought it for the same reason.
When I taught English, I had a kid turn up to class with a “Save a Tree, Eat a Beaver” t-shirt before.
where did you get them from? I’ve only done Chia Te and Sunny Hills, picked up day before or day I left to ensure maximum freshness. (There are plenty of really crappy pineapple cakes out there that I put straight in the trash when people give them to me). Combine good pineapple cakes with some Alishan High Mountain Tea and it makes for a very Taiwanese afternoon tea (or breakfast, not that anyone breakfasts like that here)
Thank you for some of suggestions that never crossed my kind before… pineapple cake is a staple I guess… But I gotta check which brand have the best cake
Where are there less busy branches? I dropped by this morning and saw the line. Then I doubled back after lunch and there was still a line but it was shorter
Go to a night market. Sometimes see a hat stall with 20 or so different colored Yankees hats.
Speaking of why Yankees so popular in Taiwan, anyone else watch Netflix documentary on Chien-ming Wang? not bad.
