Sisy Chen has played a major role in stirring up KMT passions. It appears that at one time she stirred up a different sort of passion among the DPP.
Back in 1996 or 1997 a book called Beigang Censer, which translates into English as "the north port incense burner (into which everyone plants a joss stick) was written by Shih Ming-teh’s girlfriend.

Taipei opposition-party power-broker Sisy Chen, top, is recognized for her political savvy – and for her hot clothing and cool image (sunglasses at indoor press conferences). These days though, the Democratic Progressive Party director of information is in the news for being hounded with questions about an alleged affair with former DPP chairman Shih Ming-teh.
The queries started after the release of review copies of “The North Harbor Incense Burner Into Which Everyone Plants a Joss Stick.”
The yet unpublished novel’s power-hungry heroine, Lin Lee-chih, bed-hops her way to the top. To the Taiwan press, Lin seemed a lot like Chen. The book was written by Lee Ang, Shih’s former girlfriend.
Chen, 39, has dismissed the fuss as the antics of a spurned lover. As for legislator Shih, 56, all he will say of Chen is: “We have shared comradely love. But we never shared the love between a man and a woman.”[/quote]
Rumors continued to float around. Several years ago DPP lawmaker Chou Po-lun stated that “what makes her so formidable is her prowess at seducing married men.” Specifically, he was referring to her reportedly having affairs with two former DPP chairmen, Hsu Hsin-liang and Shih Ming-te, who, he claims, broke ranks with the DPP as a result of Chen’s persuasion.
