Sisy Chen

Sisy Chen is a highly intelligent, witty and upright person who does not deserve those rather primitive critics. I hope that some folks here realize that Omni’s cheap sexist shots on this woman are totally unfair. She is attacked for being a women.
I beg your pardon? If Lien Chan or James Soong offered to pose nude for Playgirl, I’m sure you wouldn’t object to any of our female posters expressing distaste for his pot-belly and sagging ballsack. Would you? :astonished:

Or would that amount to attacking them for being men? :unamused:

And please, please! It’s bad enough having one Sisy Chen to put up with. Please don’t make her a multiple personage, or you’ll give us all the most horrible nightmares!

Giraffe

What dows that mean? Omni’s callname is sleazy?

sisy Chen has always beena populist rabble-rouser. In the 1995 LY elections, she got a statue of CKS stolen got it sawed in half at the vaist and showed the lower half at campaign rallies.

after making her accusations against chen, she jumped on a plane to Sough Korea and returned 2 days later, when she discovered that her stunt had gone more or less unnoticed.

And didn’t you know, El Tigre, that a person’s character and the inner workings of their soul are reflected in their physiognomy, especially the expression in the eyes and the set of the mouth, as well as in how they dress, groom, and generally take care of their corporeal frame?

Thus it is perfectly in order to include references to appearance when directing fusillades of criticism at whoever’s actions and appearance combine to demonstrate that they deserve them. Which applies to men and women alike, I believe.

Yeah, and also it’s the cheap shots that hurt the most.

It’s not as if sock-faced Sisy fights Queensbury rules, is it?

I’m interested in how Omni knows about Lien’s scrotal shortcomings.

Cheap shots here won’t hurt Sisy, that’s for sure. But it is annoying to see this board on such a level.
I watch her night show and I like the way she talks and what she says. It’s as simple as that, she is a sharp contrast to many other people in the Taiwanese’s media limelight. You might accuse her of being too Western in a way, she talks, she doesn’t practice Chinese conversation that much.

Whereas please feel free to refer to any part of a male’s appearance however you wish when directing insults at him? In other words, women’s appearances are sacrosanct while men’s appearances aren’t?

Hmmm, I wonder where you got that from? It’s not one that I’ve heard before. But I have to say, it’s an interesting example of reverse gender discrimination or something of the sort (sorry, I’m not quite up on the correct terminology for this branch of political correctness).
Omni,

Cut me some slack! I didn’t state nor imply that it was or is acceptable to insult a man by reference to his physical appearance.

As far as I can tell, insults directed at a woman’s physical characteristics are far more common than such directed at men.

Omni, I don’t believe that you think that is true.

No way. You’re letting your emotions get the better of you on this, I think.
Yeah, and also it’s the cheap shots that hurt the most.

I’m not defending anything Sisy Chen said re the attempt on CSB’s life. However, I am not aware that when criticizing CSB Ms. Chen referred to CSB’s physical appearance.

Do you know differently?

I’d rather somebody made fun of my wonky nose than allege I tried to shoot myself in the stomach to swing a presidential election.

I’d rather demonstrate the absurdity of Sisy Chen’s allegation that CSB staged the shooting than comment negatively on her physical appearance.

Demonstrating the absurdity furthers an argument. Insulting a person’s appearance does… what?

Sisy Chen: seriously deranged? No.

Paranoid nutcase? No.

KMT plotter? Yes.

But what really makes her tick? She doesn’t have to earn a living like the rest of us, she lives off her family’s money, driver and all. SHe is pretty, well dressed, well coiffed, well hatted, eats well, and speaks smoothly and with a silver tongue.

But what makes her tick? To stick it to the DPP the way she has? Revenge maybe. So weird. Does anyone know her and can explain her actions. Yes, forget her pock marks, not important, Tigerman is right.

I agree with Tigerman even though he has a wonky nose.

Attacked for being a woman?! When a woman flatly flaunts her breasts on television (Does 乳房是女人的社交工具 sound familiar to you?), my respect for her goes down the drain. Not to mention her scathing and unbased remarks on just about everything she provides a commentary for.

No offense, but if one believes that that her statements are a reflection of her intelligent, witty and upright personality, that someone is in need of serious mental therapy.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. Someone who uses their physical appearance to rise to the top of fame and power - fair game to knock them down with the same weapon. Any person who sleeps their way to the top with a pretty face deserves it. If she’d gotten to the top with her brains it would be an entirely different matter.

aoi, sorry but I don’t take your comments serious. I see Sisy as an important figure in todays Taiwan, I don’t care for her breasts and I do think she’s intelligent, knows how to talk and make her points.

Too bad for you, because I sure took your comments seriously. You mentioned how she was attacked for being a woman; well, all I did was give a reply as to WHY she was being attacked for being a woman. Pick on me for giving you a (more or less) intelligent reply; can’t you at least agree with me that my points are valid before brushing me off with the simple “sorry but you’re not as well informed as I am” attitude?

You see Sisy as an important figure; granted, she probably is, as if it weren’t for her most of the 中央選民 might not have voted for CSB and would have voted for the KMT instead. Yes, she is intelligent…she gave DPP the presidency. Good for her.

As for knowing how to talk, hey, we’ll have to agree that Hu Jintao is good at making his points too http://pekingduck.org/archives/000986.php (via pekingduck.org ; the archived source is currently inaccessible…sorry Richard!)

Despite knowing “how to talk” and how to “make her points”, does that necessarily mean that Sisy’s points are at all intelligent? Hitler (hey, another Hitler reference :unamused: ) sure knew how to talk…
…but by comparing her to Hitler I feel that I’m giving him a bad name…(until I remember the atrocities he committed, that is)

Perhaps you don’t know that there is a whole list of figures who have left the DPP and leant towards the KMT/PFP side or remained independent. e.g.

Ju Gaojeng (朱高正 Zhu Gaozheng): Former DPP legislator. Formed the Social Democratic Party. Merged the SDP with the New Party. Was expelled from the New Party. Now a lecturer and political commentator. Has spoken on pan-Blue protest platform.

Hsu Hsin-Liang (許信良 Xu Xinliang): Expelled from KMT in 1977. Fled Taiwan in 1979. Smuggled back to Taiwan in 1989. DPP chairman from 1991 to 1993, now independent. Stood for president in the 2000 elections but got a very low vote. Publicly supported Lien-Soong in this election. Appeared on pan-Blue protest platform this evening.

Shih Ming-Teh (施明德 Shi Mingde): Served 25 years as political prisoner. Defendant in the Kaohsiung Incident (1979). DPP chairman from 1993 to 1996, now independent.

Sisy Chen (陳文茜 Chen Wenqian): Former DPP spokeswoman, now an independent legislator.

Lee Yung-ping (李永萍 Li Yongping): ex-DPP, now a PFP legislator

Zheng Liwen (鄭麗文): Former DPP member of National Assembly - not quite sure of her current status. Appeared on pan-Blue protest platform this evening along with Hsu Hsin-Liang.
Lin Zhengjie (林正杰): Former DPP Taibei City councillor.

Lin Ruitu (林瑞圖): Former DPP legislator, Taibei City councillor, eletion campaing organiser for Chen Shuibian etc. Specialises in exposing scandals. He accused Chen Shuibian of visiting brothels in Macau but couldn’t prove it.

Kang Naimu (康水木): Former DPP Taibei City councillor.

Lin Hongxuan (林弘宣): Convicted at Kaohsiung Incident trial.

(Any corrections by PM, please.)

The point is that Sisy Chen’s defection from the DPP was not just a personal decision, but part of a trend. These ex-DPP people are loosely grouped together, and also linked to certain figures from the KMT/NP/PFP fold.

That’s hilarious. Everyone’s been . Now you are doing the same to Sisy Chen.

I am a relative of concentration camp victims and I find your trivialisation of Nazi crimes contemptible.

I am really shocked by the extremist attitudes taken by many people on these forums over the last few days and disgusted by the torrent of sexist abuse being directed at Sisy Chen.
