Correct me if I’m wrong, but you only need to provide this if you still have some degree of tax residency in Germany, right? My understanding is that if you’re solely tax-resident in Taiwan, it isn’t necessary to complete that part of the form. I didn’t anyway - I remember there being a box you can tick saying something like “I have no other tax residency”.

Tip:

Some banks in Taiwan seem to be lacking a checkbox like that on their forms and require the tax id and address in either case. Most German banks have that box luckily.

Die ING Bank hat auch kein Problem mit Steuerausländern

It’s now a requirement for the Common Reporting Standard.

Not sure how current the information is, but Wikipedia still lists Taiwan as a non participating country: Common Reporting Standard - Wikipedia

So looks like the banks voluntarily ask for the information and might not exactly follow the standards because Taiwan hasn’t put it into law (yet) (?)

Discussion is supposed to be in German here, but whatever… how to say that in German?

TLDR: Does Taiwan have a tax id and if so, how to get it?

Danke!

Die ARC-Nummer ist auch gleichzeitig Steuer-ID.
