I always reckon on 30 mins from Zuoying to Tainan central, have done it a few times.
I haven’t been to Taipei in two years but will visit soon. I used to marvel at people like that but now I’m one of them.
It’s been two years for me too. My sole reason for going to Taipei is for the Singaporean chili crab at Jade Garden, but I haven’t craved it yet in the last two years.
Yeah that’s how it always goes. I lived in both Shanghai and Shenzhen, back when there were only one single line in each city. Completely useless. When the second lines opened, that’s when I started actually using them.
I bet it was the same in Kaohsiung. I’m guessing nobody took the KMRT back when it was just the red line. It served all the major downtown areas but none of the residential areas (which are mostly on the orange line), so nobody could get there from their homes.
And when there was just the red and blue and brown line in Taipei the ridership was actually very low on the blue line. You would always get a seat. The blue line now is sardinemania.
Yeah, Taichung City Hall with all its buildings and high rises. That’s where half the action is at. And Taiwan Blvd is the former BRT. The train brings you to the main station.
Nad people complained to no end about it! They loathed the DPP for it. Then they praised Korea fish for city improvements
Doesn’t matter, after a decade or 2, the city shifts its weight around good infrastructure and people will forget they hated efficient public transportation when it was new.
Except the city is now under flack again with the giant rubber duck exhibit going on.
The light rail cannot keep up with demand, and people are waiting forever for the trains to arrive, only to find that they cannot even get on because they’re so full.
Nice to see the tables have turned on people’s opinions if anything, we need more.
I do happen to think kaohsiung’s light rail is kind of stupid to be honest. But the mrt is fantastic. More of that. Less of the rampant corruption of theft while building it.
I think it’s great. I take it every day. Without the light rail I would have no other feasible way to get to work.
They just need to make the trains more frequent (or at least extend the rush hour window) and then I would have zero complaints. The trains are usually quite packed even without the giant duck exhibit.
Yeah! All the news channels are reporting this now! Damn, I hardly take the MRT but now I don’t think I’ll ever ride it again or let my family go on one.
It’s not like stabbings or razor blade attacks are confined to MRT cars. Happens on the streets too, so I think being aware of your surroundings works better than avoiding public places altogether.
