Taipei, the 3rd safest city in the world

https://www.visualcapitalist.com/mapped-the-worlds-most-and-least-safe-cities-by-perceived-crime/

World Top 3: Doha, Dubai, and Taipei.

In East Asia, Taipei has outperformed cities such as Hong Kong (4th), Singapore (5th), Tokyo (6th), and Seoul (10th).

No European city entered the top 10.

On the other hand, Brazil has 4 cities among the 10 unsafest cities in the world.

Dubai?

Safe?

From Iranian drone attacks?

Lol

From the source link:

The scores are based on five years of user submissions covering perceptions of crime, personal safety, property crime, and violent crime.

They do not measure official crime rates or exposure to geopolitical conflict.

I was reading that El Salvador has a ridiculous 5 murders recorded this year or something like that. It seems it’s becoming very safe these days.

I search and seems true, fewer killing than some Taiwan cities

The most absurd data is out of the 82 total murders in 2025 for the country. All 82 were solved.

I was reading 2026 will likely be even less than 82 at the current rate

They should give their President a peace prize but they won’t.

Isn’t it because anyone with a tattoo was thrown in prison as likely a gang member?

Well it ain’t Spain and Ceuta

Why?

So it’s like Japan! Taiwan youth has lots of tattoos so this policy is not good for Taiwan.

Muh Sao Paulo

You’re saying the quiet part out loud.

No.

El Salvador is so safe now because all the bad gang members were let into the US during the open borders period.

I wouldn’t want to smell the place if they gave em vindaloos for dinner.

Who the hell wants to live under Bukele?

OK I will say the quiet part out loud: it is ridiculous that Taipei, with its reckless aggressive drivers and its do-nothing police, is ranked higher than Tokyo! That does not seem right at all.

I suppose on the plus side, we did rank higher than Borat’s sister who reportedly placed fourth, albeit in a narrower national context.

Guy

It seems people who left due to the violence have been coming back. It’s hard for me to imagine living in a place where the murder rate is 100+ for every 100k.

Happening all over Latin America:

George on X: “I don’t think enough people are appreciating what is happening in the Brazil election. Flavio Bolsonaro has now overtaken Communist President Lula da Silva in polls & markets. His chances are skyrocketing. Brazil flipping is a game changer for the Western Hemisphere. https://t.co/LDdUWi5SUR” / X
