Taiwan population decline

Don’t say that - MikeN1 is on a roll! :stuck_out_tongue:

You’re wrong - Stalin pushed his mother’s brand “the People’s Coffee - drink it or else!” And Hitler pushed his uncle’s Bavarian brand.

Yes many states understood the importance of replenishing the population…

Ironic considering how Russia and Germany are soon to be extinct. Many argue that the reason Mother Russia invaded Ukraine (for example) is because she is out of officers and enlisted bodies to throw to the meat grinder…if not now then never.

Germany has been invaded by Islam and we will see what happens there. The Ottomans it seems have launched a successful invasion under their very nose.

Mongolia’s most lasting achievement is giving us the most fecund, virile man in human history. Genghis Khan married, raped, or seduced (or perhaps all three at the same time) so many women that even today 2% of the population of Asia bear genetic traces of his descent. For this achievement, Mongolia has chosen to honor his contribution to fertility with the world’s biggest statue.

In the UK last year the number of recorded births was lower then the number of deaths for pretty much the first time (apart from one year in the 70s). However, the total overall population still increased by 1% due to immigration.

The only way to get the population reversed from the irreversible and literal death spiral it is in is high permanent immigration. Not happening soon though. The economy is propped up by huge export earnings, low interest rates and heavy savings.

Cities seem to still be doing well in Taiwan due to migration to cities and industrialisation close to cities , many towns and villages are hollowing out quickly and becoming even more decrepit looking.

I’m hearing housing prices will fall because of just that.

New construction as well.

It’s obvious that location is everything. Now what location is everything isn’t always obvious in advance. Certainly. Neighborhoods can get overpriced and come down like Tianmu in Taipei city.
In Kaohsiung it’s still Meishuguan where luxury apts keep springing up, yet neighbouring San Min has thousands of residents just dying off every single year .

Many of those countryside towns and villages though on the South are ONLY propped up the the Vietnamese immigrants now, without them they would be completely and utterly dead I reckon

Agreed. Not to the level of immigration the UK is seeing though, which is clearly unmanageable and socially divisive.

Yeah it needs to be managed carefully. But they desperately need more immigrants however they keep just bringing in temporary ones who can’t have babies and settle here. Very Short sighted as the local economies and vibrancy of the place could benefit massively from these young and energetic people.

I swear my neighbourhood in Kaohsiung feels like an open air old folks home in the day time. It’s a bit depressing.

having multiple wives solves a lot of things, they should put it back to the good old days

Taiwan’s population declined in September, as the death rate outpaced the birth rate. The arrival of people from abroad was not enough to prevent the overall decrease, which was also driven by fewer births compared to the same period last year.

How could Taiwan get new citizens?

Polygamy if allowed must be extended to both sexes.

Women having multiple husbands won’t increase population. There would only be a possible increase in the chance of pregnancy, at a push.

It would be less sexist. Also polyandry as practiced in the past, means lots of men who can’t possibly get any women, while rich abd powerful men has a harem. The one way ancient culture dealt with this is sent them off to war.

So polygamy must be extended to both sexes.

What they don’t say is that almost the entirety of those people coming in won’t have kids here.
This country is so crowded and so affluent most of them don’t seem to give a shit about no babies. Certainly I felt unwelcome in many apartment blocks when I moved in with my kids, a lot of grouchy selfish old people.

And discussing how to get more women pregnant isn’t sexist?

Anyway, the traditional marriage model is more likely to increase overall population than polygamy applied to either gender.

How about holding men accountable to be like men?

I see pasty faced video game addicts drifting and weaving on the sidewalks. I wouldn’t date those guys, never mind want their sperm in my body.
